RLogue177 1,506 Posted February 11, 2018 Can environment impose a setback die for initiative rolls? Ryloth is a very hot and arid world and twi'leks have adapted a species ability to ignore a setback die imposed by hot, arid environments. So it would seem that activities taken in Ryloth's environment would impose a constant setback die for those not suitably protected. Does that include initiative rolls? Richardbuxton 7,319 Posted February 12, 2018 Yep, Initiative can even have difficulty dice! Setback on Initiative can be a common thing, eg it’s loud so you get Setback to your vigilance check. Difficulty is much rarer. Most don’t use it. Generally I only use it if one side is at an extreme advantage, e.g. one side rolls a Simple Cool check while the other side rolls an Average Vigilance check. But Setback is usually enough 1 JRRP reacted to this
RLogue177 1,506 Posted February 12, 2018 The way Successes and Advantages work in initiative are pretty well explain, but how would a Threat work? Or, would you use it like any other Threat rolled in any other check?
Richardbuxton 7,319 Posted February 12, 2018 (edited) If 2 Success and 1 Advantage is notated 2/1 then 2 Success and 1 Threat is notated 2/-1 Edited February 12, 2018 by Richardbuxton 1 RLogue177 reacted to this

Split Light 672 Posted February 12, 2018 Funnily enough, I'd never thought about this. We've never used setback in ititiative, but it does make sense. This makes some of the less used racial talents (like the twi'leks) more useful. I might need to start incorporating the occasional setback in initiative.
