Hire Rule?

Recommended Posts

Since X-wing is based off of Star Wars, why can't imperial and rebels Hire Scum? The Rebels Hired Han Solo and Vader Hired bounty hunters. It would be awesome to have a hire rule for Scum.

Change your thread title to “House Rule” and you’ve got a solution.

Scum could (should?) have been a truly mercenary faction. FFG is notorious for missed opportunities.

Here’s a tip: alternate formats are the best formats for X-wing. Find one online or make up your own. You can hire Scum until you run out of credits.

But both Hans (so far) are Rebel and Boba/Kath/Krassis were all Imperial before they (the first two) were Scum...?

Your talking about specific current in game play. I'm asking in general why cant rebels and imperials hire a scum pilot/ship since that reflects the movies and would be more accurate. as in the below picture that I'm sure you'll recognize. It just makes sense and personally I think it would be a lot more fun. And yes even in the movies Han Solo ended up a rebel for a while but went back to smuggling in the end.

Because then you'd have Scum Nym with Miranda, Dash and Dengar, the list of 'things Imperial players cry about' would be never ending.

The simplest answer is for game balance. But it also makes sense story wise. The Empire and the Rebellion might hire bounty hunters for specific jobs, but did they ever fight as a part of their military forces? The Rebels would be concerned with spies, and the Empire had a uniform force with strict doctrines. Hired guns doesn't fit well into any of these cases.
