It's a galaxy that is at least as wide in immediate scale as the Star Trek universe, but with many thousands of years more "advanced, spacefaring civilization"-level history. There is no reason that this can't be all kinds of awesome...although it does almost make one want to see it handled as a TV series where they can develop longer arcs and toss in the occasional "filler episode" (which are usually anything but, if you are interested in the characters and background, and don't require SFX to be entertained). Fair points. Something like a territory war in the Unknown Region with comepletely new ships and races is highly unlikely. Even my hope of spending time with the Chiss Acendancy doesn't have good chances for getting on screen time (though I do have hope for print media). But there is still hope for a new perspective on some existing elements in Star Wars, like exploring the criminal organizations (Hutt Cartel, Black Sun), an outside prospective of the Jedi Order, or even the elusive story from the Empire's point of view. I would personally love a story about a Mandalorian Clan surviving out in the galaxy, made even preparing to take revenge on an old enemy. Maybe some of these options are still a little bit too far out for a show or movie, but I still got hope. 32 minutes ago, Odanan said: I agree Star Wars don't need to be about the Skywalkers. It's a big galaxy, after all. For chronology, there is an interesting period just after the OT that we still know little about. Another excellent time to explore. KommanderKeldoth 3,141 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) Please be an Old Republic trilogy! That would be awesome My other dream projects: Boba Fett standalone movie: basically a space western about Fett transporting Han Solo's body to Jabba the Hutt a la The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Fett would never take his helmet off but would have a semi-goofy sidekick to provide a human element Soontir Fel standalone movie: doesn't have to be Fel but would follow a cadet through pilot academy a la Top Gun and give us a half-sympathetic look inside the Empire. Plus it would feature a bunch of kickass dogfighting Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone movie (likely happening according to rumor): bring Ewan McGregor back to the role and have it play out like Logan with an older more grizzled hero ruminating on his past failures while defending the Lars homestead from discovery by the Empire. Maybe the Imperials show up looking for Luke and Obi-wan has to figure out how to mount a one man war in the desert to prevent them from sending a distress signal while also hiding himself from the Lars family. KCDodger 11,041 Posted February 7, 2018 Hmm. I don't entirely know how I feel about this. I've got mixed feelings on GoT as a narrative but I don't exactly like, to some extent, where it's gone in the most recent season. Some stuff just happens to happen, much more TV than "This is a story that is actually sensibly lengthed and things take time." At the same time, it's been moving at a really good pace narratively, so there's that too. However, there have been exactly zero surprises this last season of GoT as well. Exactly Zero. (I mean, I guess...he's talking at the CEO level, so this could well just be '1 live action, 1 animated from the Rebels/Clone Wars team, 1 ongoing LEGO/Freemaker Adventures series'...but I'd take even that. The incest was all GRR Martin and a strong plot point of the entire series. The nudity was put in purely by the tv guys, though. The book didn't really have as many naughty bits in such detail.
