Cymoon and Arquitens

Recommended Posts

I've seen people discuss this concept as a hypothetical ever since the Intensify Firepower! card was spoiled, but I hadn't come across any lists for it in the forum here. This is my stab at it. And it comes in two colors: blue and black. Just like Pokemon.

In the black edition, we're going for maximum red dice so that Vader can fix them. Thankfully, Contain tokens are perfect Vader fuel and the Arquitens is well established as his preferred red dice chucker. But nothing goes with red dice and rerolls like a Cymoon with IF!

This list uses a Comms Net flotilla as a CC token generator, to keep the IF! flowing. The list is meant for area denial and low concentration. Question 1 is whether the list is going to be slow-rolling so much that QBTs would be a cheaper replacement for Spinals. Question 2 is whether more CAP can be squeezed in anywhere, possibly by saving on things like QBTs instead of Spinals. Question 3 is whether the whole list needs to massively trim on fat in order to bid for second player and go all in on objective play. Question 4 is whether its moving parts will stand up to new tricks like a Raddus bomb.

In this list the Moon Kitties go blue with Thrawn. This list has more moving parts, and like all Imperial villains, it probably breaks down once one of the components gets eliminated.

The strategy is: Thrawn lines up three CC commands. On turn one, Gozanti dials in a CC and takes it as a token, then Comms Nets it over to the Cymoon. On round 2-5, every ship in the fleet resolves a CC command for the extra die, unless a token looks necessary. The Gozanti uses Grint to pick up a CC token and then pass it to the Cymoon so that it always has the token it needs for IF, and uses the CC dial to get two red dice out the front, one of which is always a damage due to IF! Cymoon has to carefully watch where its next token will come from, and will need to supply its own token for the final round of the game, meaning it needs to bank it on round 5.

  • Unfortunately, this means the Gozanti misses out on a free token from its second command, as it can't hold both the CC token and the other token for the split second of time between revealing the commands and "after the Reveal Commands" step, but c'est la vie. I played around with Grint on the ISD instead, but I want Strategic Adviser too much.
  • The Cymoon and Gozanti together can keep dialing in Squadron commands in order to fly the five squadrons in a close-range defensive CAP.
  • In comparison to the Black edition, this version gets fleet-wide CC commands every round from 2-5, which is nice. But is suffers from less dice fixing, which is why DTTs and TRCs show up.
  • Like the Black edition, this would probably really shine as a fleet that bids for second player, if the points could be shaved off. That would probably mean risking it on lighter squadron cover.

Cymoon w/o Tua as flagship might be a bit too risky. You might want to try isd2 with Chimaera title for a stronger and more flexible ship(entrapment formation for first1-2(3) turn-->swap to ifp as long as your ships are fine-->stm to keep ships alive in the late game, built in def retro, leading shots,qbt/xi7/spinal). Also, if your rolls arent abysmal(especially with leading shots Isd), Id give JJ/Thrawn/Motti a try (this is my preference order as well). Try things out, and report back;)

This build does NOT want Slaved Turrets.

It has IF!

It wants double arcs.

Take QBT - or go with just SFO.

with the selfie stick turning though, kitties that try to double arc risk running in closer to the enemy than they should to stay safe.

With Vader For Rerolls most of the time you should be Naving anyways though.
