Could also have been a trainer model of some kind, either an experienced flight leader with extra electronics, or two pilots. I guess we'll find out sooner or later! Like when your driver's ed instructor would slam on the brakes because he thought you couldn't finish that right turn before someone plowed into you, and you had enough time to do it like three times before that car showed up.
