Solo Teaser Observations

Recommended Posts

I'm still excited for this, it's going to be weird seeing someone else play Han Solo but as long as this actor can pull off Hans wit and attitude I can live with it.

I love the scum and criminal aspect of Star Wars, so I'm hoping this is jammed packed with it.

Some people are saying this is the Action IV (in the background, obviously):

But I don't think so.

More importantly, that blurry little speck on the horizon is obviously a squadron of GUNBOATS! (Still holding out hope that this movie makes them canon).

Also the leaked image of the Falcon is true:

She has that thing covering her front prongs.

If I remember correctly from the cross section book I have I thought the front prongs were for picking up cargo containers on the YT-1300 freighter, this doesn't look like its carrying a cargo pod, it looks like there's actually panels or shrouding over them...? Am I mis-remembering?

That TIE Gunpod should be the Gunboat. :(

And yes, they missed the opportunity to add the Action IV too.

I'm actually good with new ships too. I'm just greedy for more ships. In WWII, there were hundreds of different models of airplanes built by each side, so in a war spanning a galaxy and lasting three times as long, there should literally be thousands of types of ships.

But I don't think so. (unfortunately)

The more I look at this pic, the more that sea looks like the art on Rho Squadron Veteran... did FFG make a mistake and accidentally spoil the scene right after this, where GUNBOATS unleash a volley of missiles out over that sea?!?

Yep, but they could, instead of creating (lame) new designs, recover old EU favorites...

Well to be fair the Action VI is canon, it shows up in ATOC.

And then the smugglars are all arrested and we find out the true hero of the film was actually Maarek Stele?

I feel like Han being in prison at the end might leave some consistency issues with Episode IV... but I'm still in favor of this. :D

Kind of sick of Scum and Villainy always being the heroes, I'd like them to spend more time on the real grey-area of the Star Wars universe - i.e. what if the Empire is bad, but beats the alternative? Spending some more time on why Han would join the Empire as an officer would be a nice twist, and give fans some insight into the Imperial mindset.

Looks like this movie has jokes in it, but the one at the end of this trailer is terrible.  Poor Ron Howard.  You may dislike the Lego Movie and Cloudy... but those movies are commercial successes.  Its why Disney hired them.  The long trailer already has bad acting and bad jokes and bad space tentacles.

"We're fine"? That sequence is barely a joke.
