A casual Scarlet affair

I had a busy day of non-SW's stuff so I didn't really have anything ready when I got to the FLGS yesterday evening. I still haven't found a "TIE'esque" list I enjoy flying and I was facing Imps in a pick up game. I pulled this S&V list together from my physical collection and flew it twice;

Kath Scarlet (38), Veteran Instincts (1), Proxy Mines (2), Ion Cannon (3), Engine Upgrade (4)

Torkil Mux (19), Moldy Crow (3), Recon Specialist (3), Blaster Turret (4)

Kaa'to Leechos (15) Vectored Thrusters (2), Deadeye (1), Concussion Missiles (4), Guidance chips (0)

I understand that this is older equipment and I didn't do great against Kylo. Part of that was dice though, as I caught Ren in a three way crossfire when I had him stuck between two rocks and the little punk survived.  He did fly into range 1 so I couldn't get the missiles off.

I've read the recent threads on the HWK , so  I was having fun with that. Even after Kaa'to fired his missiles, having the focus to pull as he barrel rolled was handy.

I enjoy flying the firespray so Kath stays, any other changes I can live with. For scum ships I have the Firespray, Most Wanted, and the HWK. I can pull a second Y from my rebel fleet if that gives me more punch. I may be able track down a scurrg before the next game. Any thoughts or input are welcome.

While the expertise + Dengar + HLC on Kath is a staple, it seems you don't have Dengar. 

I liked the idea of the ion cannon, so I capitalized on it. I don't know if you have all of this, but it should be available with the stuff you listed.

I've been flying Kath since the day she was released. This is a list I won a small three game tournament with, was also my first regional build.

If available, maybe drop in a TLT instead of an ion cannon turret. 

So the barrel rolling Y-wing can respond to dial info from Intelligence Agent? Is the BTL-A4 title not included to keep the Y's turret 360º in hopes of ionizing a pilot skill 0 Kylo Ren and other nasties?

Very thematic, I like it. How does it fair against current 'fly casual' versions of tournament lists? I'm seeing a lot of gunboats, TIE Silencers, wookies, and arc-170s.

I also found that I got a mini alpha strike with my missile and then had to really work to get my Z-95 turned and back in the fight. How do you set up and then try to fly?

Yes, Kath doesn't get 4 dice everywhere, but she still hits like a truck.

Torkil is his usual fun, versatile self.

N'Dru, who flies on his own, starts off the firing with Cluster Missiles, Glitterstim popped: That is 2 4 dice attacks, each modified by LW rerolls, Glitter eyes to hits, and then GC to cover any blanks left over. Then, you have a respectable little ship for however long he lasts.

Oh I haven't flown that build in a couple years, and haven't really had a chance to see how it would stack up against anything out now. 

I was basing the build on her 'theme' from what I could find out about her. 

I usually would set my z.95s ahead of the y.wing, have Kath on a flank, hope to get both ions to set someone up to be blocked by the z's, have Kath spin around to get a rear shot. Nowadays blocking doesn't seem to matter as much when it comes to having tokens.

Hux + Harpoons + LRS = virtually guaranteed Harpoon condition in initial engagement
Hux + TLT + Focus x 2 Tie Aggressors = 4 virtually guaranteed damage, with a single ideal roll (3 hits with atleast 1 crit) most likely triggering the Harpoon Kath will fire before the Sienars attack

I know this thread seems to be about Scum Scarlet, and that my list includes the mostly outclassed Imperial Firespray, but that's 6 nigh unavoidable damage. The best playstyle would probably be to play like a dirty coward and try as much as possible to stay at range 3 + behind obstacles, as you don't care how many Defense die / Autothrusters / rerolls / Focus tokens they have when you shoot. Get the ideal engagement (range 3, behind obstacles, all 3 ships in range of the target locked ship) and you should be able to obliterate anything with 6 or less health points (most aces) while having extra protection from your opponent's attacks. AStS combined with Hux makes crits both more likely and harder for your target to avoid canceling, triggering Kath's stress inducing ability, while Trick Shot can give Kath extra firepower when taking cover behind obstacles. Also can go with Adaptability/VI for PS8/9 Kath. Calculation is a safer alternative to AStS for helping to trigger Kath's ability, but it consumes your Focus Token and does not trigger Fanatical Devotion. Alternatively you could downgrade Kath Scarlett to a Bounty Hunter to get 2 of any bomb you want. Action Bombs aren't really desirable though as ideally you'd want Hux to be triggered as much as possible for the guaranteed damage.

You can also get 6 guaranteed damage with Lambda Hux + 3 Aggressor TLTs (1 has to go without LWF), but on the other hand the Firespray provides LRS Hux Harpoons for splash damage with either bombs or an EPT + PS7 + stress inducing ability that combos with Hux (and AStS/Calculation). Basically:

Lambda Hux + 3 Aggressor TLTs = 6 guaranteed damage with more total health + raw attack dice (when the Lambda has something in arc)
Kath Scarlett Hux + 2 Aggressor TLTs = 6 guaranteed damage with splash damage + stress inducer
Bounty Hunter Hux + 2 Aggressor TLTs = 6 guaranteed damage with splash damage + bombs for even more damage

I was going to mention that imperial Kath lists were welcome too. I don't have Agressors yet, but this looks interesting. A mix of twin ion engines and a firespray is checking my X-wing boxes. Although the thought of Hux's expression as he rides along in such a ship is humorous.

If you don't want to proxy, you can fly K4 Security Droid from Most wanted instead of Dengar.

That sounds like good advice.

The owner of the store, who is an all around good guy, wants to start having small tournaments every couple of weeks. Since my schedule is busy, I don't know right now how often it will be okay to proxy vs needing to have the cards. I may need to get used to flying what i actually own. I'd still fly Kath against the local group since the Slave 1/Firespray is a big part of the fun of X-wing for me. I'll look to buy or trade for Dengar though since He keeps getting mentioned.
