OldSchoolEmpire 80 Posted January 16, 2018 So I want to pick up some 6x3 game mats to use when Legion comes out. I've been looking at Game Matz and Deep Cut Studios as possible prospects. Any thoughts or recommendations regarding those or any other comparable offering would be appreciated.
ninclouse2000 1,051 Posted January 16, 2018 If I had the extra $$$ I would get a deep cut studios mat for sure.

Sirdrasco 254 Posted January 16, 2018 I got one of these, comes with a case http://www.tablewar.com/the-f-a-t-mat/6x3-f-a-t-mat/ 1 Timinater reacted to this
samusthe17 82 Posted January 16, 2018 You want a solid game mat that's pretty cheap? Pick up a 6 x 3 yoga mat off amazon or whatever. It's thick so it isn't flimsy and has a solid grip so your miniatures don't slip around. Then you can paint/decorate it as much as you'd like. It's what I used in armada when I was on a budget. if you have the funds, go for some of the other suggestions, but if you want something that's pragmatic and affordable, do the yoga mat. 1 Sorsha30 reacted to this

Deep cut studios have some great looking mats, as well take a look at some of the 6x4' they have. You could always use 6 inches on each side (the 4ft side) for your cards ect, then the game size will be right. This is also a great help 1 OldSchoolEmpire reacted to this
Amanal 2,557 Posted January 16, 2018 I purchased the FAT mat as they have a reseller in Australia so the postage doesn't involve body parts. 1 Timinater reacted to this

That is the main reason I choose the FAT mat. Yeh, obviously I'm also in the great southern land!!

Was looking at Fat mats, what one did you go with. The 6x3 forest mat looks pretty glaring contrast between dirt and grass but feels a bit more endorie than the 6x4 grassy plains. I am in the process of building terrain based on Terrain Tutor youtube (in this he uses filla foam from a can to build hill and rocks, his look great) and I have just gathered my supplies to start this weekend on it. As well looking to do some tree clumps the same as Sorastros youtube on this. I figured I spent up on the mat, that I can make some terrain to make it look great. Once finished i'll share some pics! Starrapter 15 Posted January 17, 2018 Great thread. I just ordered a wasteland 6' x 3' mat for the first time through Deep Cut Studios!
OldSchoolEmpire 80 Posted January 17, 2018 Really great recommendations, I'm really liking what I see from Deep Cut Studios! What is the preferred Mat type, PVC or Mousepad? 1 hour ago, Starrapter said: Great thread. I just ordered a wasteland 6' x 3' mat for the first time through Deep Cut Studios! Attackmack 525 Posted January 17, 2018 I only have experience with DeepcutStudios but their mats are fantastic! Im sure most who offer these kind of mats carry equally good ones but for me, when I need another one ill definitely turn back to DCS!

I'm from New Jersey so the shipping costed me an arm and a leg, but I can't wait to play it! Also, it seems that mousepad has the best surface from other vids I watched about it. OldSchoolEmpire 80 Posted January 18, 2018 @Starrapter Thanks for the head up. I haven't decided yet, but I might just get it at 4x6 that way I can use for other games and I can just mark it in by 6 inches per side when playing Legion. 1 Timinater reacted to this

Imo, "mousepad" (neoprene) is absoutely better and more enjoyable to play on. It looks better (not as shiny as pvc tend to be) and feels great, to pick up tokens and cards and roll dice on. 2 Timinater and Sorsha30 reacted to this
Virgil Cain 18 Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) I've started making my own for Bolt Action, which I sadly got way too into as practice for Legion but oh well. Its easy, cheap, and looks much better than almost anything you can purchase. https://operationwargaming.blogspot.com/2015/10/flexible-terrain-mat.html http://tobispaintpot.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-new-horizon-tutorial-for-flexible.html Edited January 18, 2018 by Virgil Cain Typo 1 ninclouse2000 reacted to this
