[App] Stun and Pounce

Recommended Posts

In the app, if the Nexu is stunned, can it use pounce? The LotA rulebook only says stunned figures gain 0 mp from a Move and outside of their activation can't exit their space. Seems that stun would allow the Nexu to still pounce and then remove stun when it tries to move away.

I agree with your interpretation of the rule although I think this could end up in a broken behaviour. I suggest you to play this situation the usual way like I did.

I'm very unhappy of the app and the app rules.

Can you post the exact wording for pounce?

Pounce: Place your figure in an empty space within 3 spaces. Then, you may perform an attack.

Normal rules for Stun would prevent the Nexu from exiting its space before attacking, but LotA only prevents movement points and only clears the stun after a Move.

so I guess for now the Nexu will pounce, then fail to attack, then remove the stun.

I read 'conditions' section in the LotR rules as supplementing existing rules, not replacing them. If that is the case, then Pounce cannot fire due to the existing stunned condition. Nothing in Pounce would cause the Stun condition to be removed, so you proceed to the next Action on the Nexu list.

That can't be correct because if you're doing that then Imperial figures would be suffering both [damage] and [strain] from taking actions while Bleeding. It doesn't say anywhere in the rules for Bleeding that the damage is taken in lieu of the strain, so we can infer that these rules completely replace the RRG's rules for these conditions when applied to Imperial figures.

Quote

• Bleeding: After an Imperial figure with the Bleeding condition performs an instruction preceded by an [attack] or [arrow] icon, it suffers 1[damage]. Then, if it has only 1 health remaining, it discards the Bleeding condition.

Tvboy, am inclined to agree with you the Stun and Bleed rules are fully changed in LotA.

Page 10 of the rules, "Conditions" states that: "Note that effects of some conditions have changed as described in Appendix 1 on page 21."

I now I realize that in LotA, the rules for stun only prohibit a figure from exiting its space or attacking outside of its activation.

So what will actually happen is the Nexu will Pounce, attack, and then discard the Stun without moving when it tries to reposition.

In the case of an E-Web, it will make its 2 attacks as normal even if it's stunned. But if it's stunned and there are no figures in line of sight, it will basically get stuck in an infinite stun loop until a rebel wanders into its line of sight. It will spend 2 actions on the Move to attack instruction, which will result in the E-Web staying still due to stun, still not having an attack, and then re-stunning itself.

Or would the game see that as not causing a change in the game state and skip that instruction? Then it would Reposition for 0, discard the stun, and then end its activation but at least no longer be stunned.

The move and attack action on the E-web requires two actions, right?  If so then when it can’t attack it should skip and just reposition 0.  Otherwise there would be no sense in having the reposition actions on the list.

At least as far as I can see.  Maybe I’m missing a scenario where it would apply.

Right, if move 2 would not give the E-Web an attack anyway, it would skip straight to the reposition action. But the question is, what if the Move 2 to attack would give the E-Web an attack, IF it wasn't stunned? Do the rules factor in the Stun condition when deciding whether to skip an instruction?

I'm guessing the correct activation sequence for a stunned E-Web that has no targets is to skip all the way to the reposition instruction, discard the stun, and then do nothing before its activation ends.

Exactly.  Sorry, I forgot to state part of my point: Move 2 to attack with stunned essentially becomes move 0 to attack.  By rules I don’t think that really works, but it’s the only thing that makes sense given that it’s the most beneficial to the Imperials.
