Mobile "app" to track combat values and more

Recommended Posts

Hello L5R community!

First a quick intro... My full time job is a Front End Developer. I decided to combine my new favorite hobby with a desire to practice my React development skills. Initially I thought it would be neat to entirely do away with the need for tokens to track the game state. During testing I discovered that goal to be a little too ambitious. I feel that physical fate tokens and honor/dishonor character tokens are still necessary. So instead trying to track everything, I decided to target a few key areas...

- conflict skill value tracking. (We often find ourselves counting and recounting conflict values during some really intense battles)

- claimed/unclaimed rings. (Some may prefer physical ring tokens. I included this as it's an important part of conflict tracking)

- honor totals (because it doesn't change THAT often, and numbers are a little easier to compare as opposed to counting a pile of tokens)

- first player token (because why not)

- imperial favor (bonus used in conflict totals)

I'd love for you guys to try this out in your games and provide feedback.

Im not sure would i need app that keep track of rings, honor and first player token.

Conflict count i'd use. I think its easier to keep track with something than constantly counting skill.

I guess you did more than enough and its a good app! ??

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm considering hiding the rings in settings, and by default just tracking mil/pol conflict declaration. That way you can always see what you've declared regardless of what the conflict was changed to.

I have this crazy old-fashioned thing that I use for tracking skill in conflicts.  It's called a "die"; it's simply a polyhedral shape with numbered faces on it.  Pretty dope.

Honor tracking is something that is likely useful, there were plenty of honor trackers in the CCG and it does save you from bringing a set of tokens.  It's also one of the most time-consuming parts of setup.
