Alternate Format: Squadrons

List building requirements:

1 unique pilot allowed.

1 ship type allowed.

 

120 points

 

The idea is you play a single hero in command of his group of fighters.  I am sure that there are certain builds that are really good and others that are really bad, but the idea isn't so much to fix the meta, but shake it up without make to many changes.  I upped it to 120 points because I some ships are so expensive it is going to be hard to put very many generics after you build your ace.

Sounds interesting.

You'd end up with very characterful looking squads, anyway.

Ryan's classic PTL/T.I.E. Mk. 2/x7 fits in perfectly. Nym+ 2 Deadeye Lok Revenants also fits in well, and I suspect Lowrick+3 Azitucks would be workable.

I admit you never said you expected this to fix much, but... Yeah, I don't feel any desire to try to play this variation.

It is a modification of the rules, so go crazy.  I personally like the idea of an ace leading his/her squadron, but you can literally do whatever you want.  The one recommendation I would make is this.  Don't ask yourself what is the best list, but which way of playing is more fun.

I think TIE Swarms will be the most powerful in this format, but I like the idea and it could serve as a foundation.

Maybe instead of just a single pilot type (which would be a ship type) and limit it to 3-8 of the same pilot (2-4 for large ships) and only 1 per pilot group can be upgraded to a unique.
