Browncoat50 64 Posted December 8, 2017 I've been wanting to try this: Mauldy Crow: Dace Bonearm: Maul, ICT, PRS, Ion Discharger - 36 Kavil: ICT, UA and VT - 33 Captain Jostero: Crack Shot, Vaksai, engine upgrade, AT, munitions failsafe and Harpoon Missiles- 31 Maul can help Dace clear stress so when ion is assigned it can cause damage and then Jostero can strike. Also I can't take credit for the name. I got it from the "**** of a Pilot" podcast. 1 E Chu Ta reacted to this
theBitterFig 11,598 Posted December 8, 2017 Points-wise, it looks like you've got VI on both Dace and Kavil, but it's not written there. As to Jostero, I worry that it might be hard to trigger Harpoon Missiles, since you don't have sources of crits and it is possibly the case that Ion Cannon Turret can't trigger the condition at all. That'd be my personal interpretation--there are no uncancelled crits with an ICT--but I know that the subject is being debated in the rules subforum in the context of Twin Laser Turret. I'm pretty sure some folks would interpret things differently. Meanwhile, with two ships which like to be at range 1-2 of enemies, it seems risky to give your opponent the Deadman's Switch effect. If you were more inclined to stay out at range 2-3, Harpoon would be safer. As is, I worry that I'd wind up blowing up my Y and HWK. Engines + Autothrusters is an option, although pricey and it locks you out of also getting Guidance Chips. I've seen Ion Discharger and PRS work reasonably well on Kihraxz, so that'd be worth considering too, with Dace there to threaten damage if the opponent accepts the Ion token. Another cool option would be Scavenger Crane. Getting extra missile shots is always nice. I'm sure all variants would work about as well, and it's kind of a personal call. 1 Browncoat50 reacted to this
Tbetts94 2,401 Posted December 9, 2017 So played against Kylo/Whisper again with my Dengar/Fenn/Inaldra. Had to cut the game short with 20 minutes left. Had Fenn (2 health) and Inaldra (Full) versus his Kylo (4 health). He had me on Points and could have just ran and played it super safe, fiancé was calling and wanted to meet up for dinner since she got off work early, so had to bolt. That matchup is winnable. Versus any other opponent in the area besides that opponent it’s probably a 60/40 in my favor, versus him with both of us on about even playing skill wise probably a 45/55 in his favor. Second slaver had boba instead of insipiring recruit. Filled it out with thweek and a 2 pt bid if I remember correctly. Worked wonders. IR and Maul go hand in hand. I've tried the more defensive build with the evade title and c3p0 on Rey and Low with Swarm Tactics instead of Wullf, but I find that the Auzituck usually gets targeted down first. Wullf got about the same dice out as Low with Swarm, and I just like having access to the 180 flip title on Rey to maintain arc. I find it to be competitive, but moreso really fun to fly. theBitterFig 11,598 Posted December 9, 2017 Love the thought of Ezra/Maul on a 'tuck. Can't wait to fly it myself. I figure it'd be good on pretty much any of them. 30 points for PS1, 35 for Lowhhrick with Selflessness or DTF, or Wullffwarro with Elite of choice. If feels really strong to have a reinforce token, as well as both focus-and-reroll type dice modification when attacking, even if only a single die (until I get it on the table and see it in action, I don't want to assume multiple rerolls with Maul). The thought of Swarm Tactics is also interesting here. I don't know if I would have come up with it, but it is one of the few ways to increase a ship's damage with an Elite which isn't granting focus or reroll effects. Let's face it: Outmaneuver on an Auzituck isn't going to work that well. An Auzituck leading a band of A-Wings might be neat (kind of a shame Rebels don't really have a better Evade ship... can't wait until E-Wings get their fix). However, particularly once Wullffwarro has a hull damage, I begin to worry that he'd start to have too many dice for only a single mod to handle. Ezra/Maul(1) is 2.5 hits on 3 dice, compared to 2.8 for Focus/TL. On 6 dice, Ezra/Maul(1) would be 4.3 hits on average, compared to 5.6 with Focus/TL. Not that bad for zero actions put into modification.

Cow-of-Doom 95 Posted December 20, 2017 @theBitterFig, in relation to your Dark Ghost list. I know this is coming WAY too late, but just thought it might be cool to swap in a Phantom 2. You could defiantly do some cool stuff with the coordinate, and you could swap down the ICT to something else like autoblaster (for the turns when you don't have arc but can get a damage or two anyways), and spend the points on the P2 or Low for some actionable shenanigans. Just a thought (because P2 shenangains are the best shenanigans ) Best, Cow
theBitterFig 11,598 Posted December 20, 2017 I'm not ever sure which list. All good tho. Phantom II... Maybe. If we're looking at an ICT Ghost, Phantom I only can do 1 damage and an Ion. A coordinate can probably earn about a damage worth of value. The Ion might be hard to replace. It seems nice to have the potential to double-ion a large ship, if such things exist in the metagame of X-Wing currently (is ion good against harpoon gunboats...). I guess that I just don't know how much value a coordinate on an Auzituck is in the first place. They only have two natural actions, and while a focus token is nice, I still think I'd rather have a second shot. That's just for me, however.
Tbetts94 2,401 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) I wanted to work out some math for Dengar on Defense with Wired activated and having a focus. If I have multiple shots to defend against, Range 1/2/3 and the attacker has Focus/TL and 3 attack value when is generally best opportunity to save the focus for. Range 3: Expected Damage Using Focus .988 Range 3: Expected Damage Using Wired 1.430 Value of Focus Usage of .422 Damage Range 2: Expected Damage Using Focus 1.567 Range 2: Expected Damage Using Wired 1.878 Value of Focus Usage of .311 Damage Range 1: Expected Damage Using Focus 2.500 Range 1: Expected Damage Using Wired 2.813 Value of Focus Usage of .313 Damage Generally, it looks like I want to save the focus for Range 3 engagements and use Wired on the Range 1 or 2 shots, preferably Range I then took a look at the damage output if Dengar had one reroll with Maul and Wired rerolls available. Range 2-3: Expected Hits Using Wired 2.164 Range 1: Expected Hits Using Wired 2.842 Lastly, I wanted to know what to expected the Hits should be if I use the Focus instead of Wired and one Maul Reroll. Range 2-3: Expected Hits Using Focus 2.684 Range 1: Expected Hits Using Focus 3.513 Range 2-3 Difference: .52 More hits using a Focus Range 1 Difference: .671 More hits using a Focus So with Dengar and his revenge shots I need to be aware of these numbers, in order to determine to take away the stress with Maul to keep Wired activated or remove the stress with Maul to activate Maul again to threaten the revenge shot. wurms 5,313 Posted December 31, 2017 Had a 77+ tourney. Had to take Pre built ship from 23-28 pts. I took: (49pts) Dengar w/ Wired, Maul, Title (27pts) Thweek w/ AT, title II (24pts) PS1 Starviper w/ Pulse Array Shield, Title II (this was pre built ship) Went 2-1 and took 2nd place. 100-0 win first match, 24-49 loss second match, 38-0 win third match. Screwed up 2nd game, think i win it 9 outta 10 times. I mimicked ezra ability so thweek dont care about stress, but then i screwed up later cuz I forgot thweek moves before ezra, so i bump into ezra instead of gettting a range 1 shot, then ezra moves and gets range 1 on thweek and stresses him. Im near edge, so I had to then turn away from ezra and thweek was out of combat for three turns. I have to get use to maul and know when to remove the stress and when to keep it. That is so key to this dengar build. Sometimes I forgot to remove it and that sucks.
theBitterFig 11,598 Posted January 7, 2018 I was musing about the Quadjumper in another thread, and found it sad that 3x Jakku Gunrunners with Spacetug Tractor Array total to 51, so either Wired or Contraband would need to be dropped from the baseline Maulgar build. So close, and yet so far.
Rolotamasi 208 Posted January 8, 2018 There was a Maul list that made final table at the large Chicago regional. He had Maul and Rey with a TLT and Ezra docked. He flew a Fenn sheathipede for PS11 coordinate support. It was nice, very effective with those TLT shots and Maul rerolls. Gold Squadron streamed it and I would imagine they will break it up and YouTube it soon. 1 Tbetts94 reacted to this
wurms 5,313 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Looks like wired/maul dengar is picking up a little steam. Made top 8 in Copenhagen, and saw it made top 16 somewhere else (france?). I recently did Wired Maul on Boba Fett with Plasma Torpedoes and contraband cybernetics. SOO GOOD! Full mod plasmas just eliminated all of Degnars shields in one game. Went 2-1 at a local tourney with Boba/Kath list. I was range 1 of Ketsu, rolled hit, eye, blank, blank. Boba Fett ability for one blank reroll to hit. Mauled one for another hit. Triggered wired and rerolled the eyeball to a hit, lose stress! Arcana57 13 Posted February 14, 2018 I know I am a little late jumping in on this but I have been running a YV-666 and Lancer list with Maul. Moralo with Maul, Outlaw Tech, Inspiring Recruit, Contraband Cybernetics, HLC and APL then Asajj with Latts, Contraband Cybernetics, Glitterstim, Title, Gyroscopics and PTL. I took this to a practice tournament for Regionals and took 2nd only losing to a Rey/Poe list.
Rich P 907 Posted February 14, 2018 I've had some joy - if not great success running 2xWookiees and Fenn Rau as a Maul list. My exact list is: Wullffwarro (30)Lightning Reflexes (1)Ezra Bridger (3)Maul (3) Lowhhrick (28)Predator (3)C-3PO (3)Rey (2) Fenn Rau (Sheathipede) (20)Veteran Instincts (1)Hotshot Co-pilot (4)Flight-Assist Astromech (1) Total: 99 View in Yet Another Squad Builder I'm toying with adding different crew to Lowhhrick - maybe operations specialist instead of C-3PO to keep Rey ticking over as I find I run out of focus there quite quickly.
