Your favorite Force power

Recommended Posts

So there are a lot of Force powers in the game at this point, and while all of them have some awesome uses, most people likely have one power that's their favorite.  Either because of how it was used in the movies/shows/etc, some other bit of Legacy material, or just because they think it's freakin' cool.

For me, number one would have to be Move.  It's just too darn useful in my opinion.  It can be used offensively, defensively, and if you are clever and creative enough with your environment, is almost a universal tool to accomplish things.  Especially if you have it upgraded to allow you to do fine manipulation of objects and devices, and yoink things out of people's hands.    I personally just fine too many ways to use this power to not love it.  :D

Second place would have to be Force Lightning, but mostly because I've always had an affinity for storms, lightning, gods of storms/thunder/lightning, and super heroes that used lightning.  There's just something very galvanizing about it, and yes I understand the pun in that, but it's the best word I can think of.   Cole McGrath, the hero of the first two inFamous video games, was like the best combination of crack and catnip for me.   This guy with a wide range of utility with his lightning powers, and I could run around being a hero.   It was freakin' sweet.

I don't care for the "It's Dark Side only" aspect when it comes to most Star Wars lore, but it's still a pretty impressive power regardless.

So what's your favorite Force power?

In game, in terms of functionality, I love enhance. I think it. Pe forms the way it should.

I am enjoying making Npcs with unleash as it's terrifying to face. But I love bind for my main. Just dealing out massive critical injuries.

I'm a fan of Foresee, Warde's Foresight and Battle Meditation.  Anything that adds an aspect of "And now everyone is awesome!" is pretty cool in my book.

Yeah, I'm primarily a "support" class player in most games, and I really enjoy playing characters who are built around buffing others, and working from the back ranks.    With the Force specifically though, since I don't know of too many examples of the "party buff" being used in the films or anything, I have to go with the classic ones :D

Oh, you're making me choose just one?  I'm not sure I can do that!  But I can give it a shot, I suppose :P .

I'm a huge fan of sensory-type powers, as well as those that evoke a sense of subtle-yet-powerful and mystical ability (go figure).  So powers like Farsight, Foresee, Sense, and Seek are favorites of mine.  As is Ebb/Flow, and I do have a soft spot for Protect/Unleash :) .

If I had to choose one, and only one to have...I'd probably go with Farsight, to be honest.  But it's a real tough choice!

Well that is the definition of "favorite" yes :P  However you might notice that in my OP, I gave a second place, so it's not really super strict.  I mainly limited it so that people don't just go down a laundry list of all of them, explaining why they are all awesome.  Limiting it to a couple favorites is an effort to keep things focused and streamlined a bit is all.

If there was a Psychometry power, that would be my number 1.  As it is, my gold, silver, and bronze would probably be Farsight, Seek, and then...it's a toss-up between Sense and Protect/Unleash.  It's a tough choice, gosh-darn it :P !

Move.

It's just so diverse.

Get that hard-to-get McGuffin? Move.

Capture the Bad Guy? Move.

Kill the Bad Guy? Move.

Save the Good Guy (get them out of harms way)? Move.

Move yourself where no one else can move? Move (just be darn sure you can make the pips!).

Do any physical thing with minimal exposure/endangerment of yourself? Move.

These are just actual-play examples of ways I've used it that I can think of off the top of my head.

And now I can't seem to make a FU that doesn't go into Move.

Yeah, I think for me, I was just too impacted by the scene of Yoda lifting the X-Wing out of the bog in Empire.  The scene was just so powerful to me as a kid.   Also, the sheer OPness of it in the various video games made it a personal favorite.   Between the Jedi Knight games, and the Force Unleashed games, Move just became the "Yes Please" Force power for me.  :D

I'm having a really hard time choosing between Enhance and Sense. I guess Enhance would be my number one, as it's been one of the first powers I pick up whenever I build a character. The ability to raise your Brawn or Agility at a whim is just too useful to pass up, as is the ability to leap great distances. And since I normally go for rather social characters who don't appear to be all that tough, it's really fun to suddenly have Brawn 5 when combat starts and hit like a truck.

Sense is easily the runner-up, however. The ability to sense the world around you is just so practical, and the entire left half of the tree is immensely useful for triggering Improved Parry and Improved Reflect. A Soresu Defender with a high Intellect, the entire left side of Sense, and Defensive Circle can rather consistently trigger the Improved talents.

I'm a big fan of Misdirect, with Foresee and Enhance tied for a close second.

I like playing sneaky characters, and being able to use Misdirect to completely block adversaries from perceiving my character while I sneak around to gather information or get into advantageous positions to support my party in combat is right up my alley.  I've also used it a time or two when one of my allies was close to being taken down by an opponent to make my ally imperceptible for a turn so they could get out of the situation.

My favorite Misdirect moment so far, though, was making my character imperceptible to a bad guy who was holding a little girl hostage, then using Force Leap as a maneuver to get right up next to him, grab the girl and another item he'd stolen along the way, then force leap away again so my allies could attack him without worrying about hurting the kid.  I think there might have been a light-saber attack in there between grabbing the kid and leaping away, but using the Force to save the kid was the real hero moment for me. :)

As far as lore is concerned, Battle Meditation has always been a favorite of mine since Tales of the Jedi. Curiously though, the main aspect of Battle Meditation that I've always loved, has been split off from that power in this iteration of the game, and is now covered by the Influence emotion/thoughts upgrade; that being the ability to sow confusion in your enemies, causing them to turn on one another, as Nomi Sundrider did to a pair of Hississ and a group of pirates on two occasions.

I have a soft spot for Bind, it is a very good tool for both controlling a single target and crowd control. Also it has a very strong offense being able to deal massive criticals with high enough Force die and Willpower. A force power fitting a Sith Sorcerer or a Sith Warrior, or maybe a Jedi if you don't want to maim people.

I haven't played enough F&D to have a favorite based on experience, but conceptually I really like Ebb/Flow. It's flexible in use and its mechanics flow beautifully from the narrative.

One of these days I'd love to try a Protect specialist (Ideally with a Baran-Do mentor so I can occasionally use the Unleash side without gaining massive Conflict), as I think barrier mages are cool, but that requires a pretty big XP investment, so it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

Influence for sure. You can make a target adopt an emotional state or believe something untrue for 1 round/5 minutes in non-structured play. This can be increased with duration upgrades. You can  turn enemies to allies, cause riots, calm raging beasts, force an evil-doer to feel guilt for all the horrible things they have done, etc. You can make them believe they need to go to prison or stop a badguy from fighting entirely. If you're evil, you can make the big bad believe you are running away from them in the direction of the rail-less drop-off (star wars has no rails, after all).

Sure it borders on taking conflict even for the Light Side characters but it is such a powerful effect, even if it is only temporary.

Oh, man. How has no one brought up Manipulate yet? I generally lean toward the techy types and Manipulate is just amazing. Not only does it help you with crafting, you can also repair and boost your equipment/ships/droids? It's so versatile and really has a feel like no other Force power does.

I think for me my Gold Metal as @Absol197 terms it would have to be Imbue; mostly because when you have that high enough and you imbue an object {our GM said it could be whatever we had been touching at the time} nobody else can use it because it'd only respond to the person that imbued it.; so now my Jedi Master Gem Crystaleye has a A-Wing that pretty much follows her around; which kinda sucks because the hallways on Naboo ARENT big enough to hold a A-Wing inside them.

My Silver Metal would have to be Unleash/Force Lightning; my Jedi Knight turned starship seller Cynthiana of House Kuat uses Force Lightning afterl earning how to resist the Dark Side influnce gained from using it thanks to having a Sith Holocron genetically coded to her
