System slot idea to help the tie punisher

your action bar gains the reload action. 

When you discard a secondary weapon upgrade, you may perform a free reload action.

tempted to make it one point, maybe zero. Would also help b-wings like Nera. Real fear is what does it do for Corran?

Reload is a rubbish action, and it won't do anything to help the Punishers.  If they got to use their weaponry they'd be contributing value already - you don't need to reload what you never got to use to begin with!

Please don't tell me that you cannot ever get at least 1 missile or torpedo off with a ship that has 9 hitpoints, and potentially 1+1 defense dice at any range.

It would definitely help, although I think it would be a more tempting choice over Extra Munitions if it would cost only 1 pt.

In my opinion, what the Punisher needs the most, is a point reduction, coupled with a defensive upgrade. LWF sounds good, but it takes the modification space away from Long Range Scanners or Guidance Chimps.

Or a Punisher-only upgrade that allows to regenerate shields.

I flew against a Punisher (Deathrain) with Unguided Missiles and Bomblet Generator on the tournament last weekend. It is simply not worth its points. If you load it with ordinance, I focus-fire it (with 1 agility and a crappy dial, it stands little chance) before it gets out all of it. The rest of your squad will be sub-par because of the points invested in the Punisher. If you don't, like the build above, I ignore you and finish you off last.

Punisher needs a title that grants a free Fore Reinforce token.  But Trajectory Simulator is going to be pretty nice, I think - it at least gives you a playable Punisher even if it's not a great one.

trouble with that is the Punisher only has the primary firing arc printed on the base, so the Aft would cover like 280 degrees.

But you have a point - a Bomblet Punisher with a reinforced butt could be annoying to chase.

Until we actually get ships with the bloody action on the bloody table you can take your mathwing and shove it up your exhaust port on what is and isn't Rubbish. 

See tie S/F for reference. Supposed to be DOA, now it's almost a staple in any  competitive imperial list.

Except the /SF was DOA then future releases made it viable.

When the Punisher flexes it's awesome physique all enemy ships on the play area suffer 1 stress token and lose 1 attack point. All friendly ships receive a focus token. Cue theme song from Karate Kid... "You're the best - around!..."

Although with how the arc is on the c-roc, it's such a small amount it is giving up over the gozanti that it really is not a huge issue. That's one time they were mostly right, even if it was by coincidence and laziness

1.) Nothing in the system slot helps the punisher more than any other ship

2.) No fix for the punisher should be in the system slot because that's ALL it has going for it 

Ie minefield mapper and trajectory simulator 

 

3.) Gunboat still does reload better 

 

The poor thing just desperately needs a TIE/IT title
