That game had more last-second swings than I've ever seen.

A shot from Jaina's Light into the rear arc of Gallant Haven (fleeing after having Boarding Troopers from a Raddus'ed Paragon which did 5 damage and 8 damage, losing Brace and Redirect to stay alive) that was about to be no new damage. I spent the one hit on three red dice (blank-blank-hit) to flip a card via Precision Strike. The result was Injured Crew which meant his Evade was discarded. Since I was still in the dice modification step, I was then able to spend my own Evade to turn a blank into a hit-hit with TRC. So what looked like a "meh" attack turned into a kill shot.

Edit: I forgot this one. As @Ardaedhel 's Admonition was chasing mine (down to 1 hull left), I rolled into a 7 damage hit with double accuracies and multiple hit-crits. Lando rerolled the hit-crits into a blank and two hits, saving his Admonition from probable death.

Later with Paragon at speed 2, he gave me an Injured Crew crit and then flipped it again to reduce my speed to 0. That eventually came into play as he plinked the remainder of my squadron screen and was able to get one more Dodonna draw from that Y-wing - and no BCC left - to get the Structural Damage.

I definitely think a Paragon with Boarding Troopers and Quad Battery Turrets is a pretty nasty Raddus package. A decked out MC30 is also a good option. I'm not sure yet about expensive ships, and I'm still considering a Pelta with Rapid Launch Bays. One other certainty is that you need multiple dangerous ships to threaten where the Raddus package will appear. Every ship in my list was a possibly good Raddus launch focus and having him on Admonition makes him pretty survivable.

Sloane v. Ackbar

7-4 to Rasproteus

Objective: Advanced Gunnery

Ras had me on bid, and I foolishly (knowingly, wanted to try it) selected his Adv Gunnery.  He made me pay for that, using Defiance to wreck my raider and Demo easily.  On the squad side, I was able to pluck his Ruthless Strategist HH's, but not before they got three of my aces.  Overall a very fun game that was very informative.

Defeats do that. I find unmitigated disasters to be particularly informative; you just need to be able to parse all the data.

In a game that hinged on more than one (which is to say more than two too many) exact (and I mean EXACT) shots, @Karneck defeats Repulse and Renown (S&G with Battle Cruisers instead of Star Cruisers) by 26 points, 227-201. Renown suffered the fate of her historical sister (brought down by the last A-wing shot that could have caught her), while Repulse jumped to hyperspace with one hull. We played his PIC.

This game was nail biting from turn 3 onward, excellent flying by Giled. Too bad his gunners can't hit the board side of an MC80 half the time. Curse the red dice gods.

Overall, was absolutely a fantastic game. Madine pulled some crazy stunts and nothing makes you sweat more then seeing two speed 4 libs barreling at you. 10 out of 10, would play again.

Handbrakes Madine is like close air support. Judicious, by which I mean excessive, use covers for many tactical sins.

I beat @greg (? he goes by greg on Vassal, I think its the guy mentioned on page one) 8:3 [That is the score if the enemy concedes, right???]

His undamaged (!) MC80 wandered of the map with a small edge of its base in round 4, so we called it right there.

Till he conceded the score was 32:29 for me.

Yeah dirty win, I know, but I gotta catch up :P


He had initiative, we played my superior positions.

First attempted at the bounty is denied!

CaribbeanNinja brought a VSD, 4 Flechette raiders, a Gozanti, and 6 TIE fighters with JerJerrod to try and stem the Y-wing tide. Despite first player and his TIE fighters going 28/28 on possible hits (swarm did help), the Y-wings prevailed. One squadron of Y's, both my YT-1300's, and one of the HWK-290's died, however in return the Imperial fleet was tabled. 400-48 win for myself. MoV of 352 for a 10-1 win.

@Ginkapo just needs a Loss of 2 points or better (got totally screwed with his 10/1 drubbing by Rasproteus)

@CaribbeanNinja just needs 1 more game of any sort to get in the "easy" way.

@Ardaedhel gets in with a 5 point loss or better.  So does @I_shot_first

@mhd just needs 3 points.

And @comatose just needs 2 more games.

Thrindal (1st) vs. Cninja (2nd)

Solar Corona

CNinja wins 10-1

We were both at 400 and Thrindal won the initiative. He chose 1st and Solar Coroña. 

Thrindal had a four ship Dodonna list with Defiance, a Trcr90 and Dodonna’s Pride with a BCC flotilla. He had an Xwing ball. 

I was rocking a Jerjerrod 3 ship fleet. BT Avenger, an ISD 2, and an Interdictor. No squads. 

Having Solar Corona and Jerry let me position Avenger to threaten Defiance. Thrindal tried to get out of it’s range to no avail. Jerry’s ISD2 took out the cr90a with a few lucky shots, and a Boarding Trooper Double arc killed the full health Defiance. 

Thanks so much to Thrindal for the match! I look forward to our next one!

I need to work on my Rebel Skills.  I also have to work on taking first player.  My playing skills are getting better but obviously need a lot more work.

All that said Ninja didn't mention that my last CR-90 was killed on the last turn by a Leading Shots gamble where he needed a Hit/Hit red result to kill the CR-90 and he got it.  Still would have been a 10-1 but it wouldn't have been quite so terrible as all my squads were still alive as well.

Dr Alex Vs @CaribbeanNinja ends an 8-3 to Caribbean ninja.

we both had two ship fleets, I had avenger/demo/defenders with Thrawn, the ninja had two Motti ISDs and ten TIEs

I chose to go first, picked solar corona and then jousted, then lost. Avenger went down in exchange for a demo’d ISD. However then Demo ranmout of board as the last TIEs died to the last of my squads. 

 

Final score 400-227 so an 8-3 to caribbean ninja.

Gink played his Bombastic Bomber fleet against my fleet with Garm, 3 Fighter Coordination Teams, and 5 B-Wings (3 standard, Keyan, and Ten Numb). He took first player and chose my Fighter Ambush. Keyan died on the first activation of turn 2 as a horde of TIE Bombers mobbed him, getting one hit on each attack. On the other side, Norra, Ten Numb, and a B-Wing rolled into the Quasar, collecting some tokens and stripping its shields. Thanks to a healthy dose of Intel, my squadrons scored 8 tokens as they grinded down his Pursuant and Kuat ISD (plus one Gozanti card). Ahsoka was up to some fun shenanigans, getting me critical tokens when I needed them.  In the end, most of our squadrons and everything but one Gozanti, Phoenix Home, and Ahsoka's GR-75 were dead. 

Final score: 459 to 322 for an MoV of 137, a 7-4 victory for me. One game to go for the slow-grind qualification.

I really like Comatose' fleet. A long time ago I ran FCT Mc80 FCT Yav BCC flot Toryn Flot with Bwings. It was highly effective, but I couldnt come to terms with having two flotillas to do nothing more than shepherd area bonuses about. 

Coma has improved on it.
