More content needed to accurately playtest

Recommended Posts

After several sessions, we have found that the rules themselves work mostly well. We have debates on the strengths of the stances, but mostly, agree the system works and is enjoyable.

The problem we have now is that we need more content to judge how things are balanced.

Weapons and armor feel very incomplete. That's a section we are having a lot of issues and are hoping we aren't using the full intended rules.

The schools are a huge area that could cause massive issues. We have no way to make any real conclusions if they are balanced because we have so many missing that could throw a wrench into the entire system.

Same with katas and such. We know there will be many more. Without those, it's impossible to determine the balance and effectiveness of schools and the items themselves.

This leads to my point. Is this truly a beta like the 40k one, where we found so many issues that the book was rewritten, or is this a glorified sneak peak? If it's supposed to be a true beta, then we will need the missing information as well as an update when things are changed due to playtesting.

I truly hope FFG gives us the ability to truly beta test this game since its so near and dear to it's player base.

I'm actually dont know if there will be many more techniques or even kata.

We are taking this for granted without reason at all. It may be the case that the only kata lacking is a exclusive technique to Mirumoto or/and to Daidoji schools.

There is no sidebar or message from FFG (That i'm aware at least) saying that we will have more in the full game. as opposed to the School. They make it clear that a few classical schools are obviously missing (Matsu,Daidoji,Mirumoto,Asahina,Bayushi bushi to name a few).

And on that case. Sure, we really should be able to see all the schools together before is finished. If they do care about feedback and want more eyes at this kind of thing.

(Dont know about the 40k Beta, but well if they listened on that one, that is a good signal at least.)

Doubtful. There are only 24 Kata in the beta. None of them interact with Snaring nor have prerequisite techniques both which are mentioned in the beta rules.

I totally agree with this , its starting to looking far too similar to the First Beta of New Heresy for my liking.

I mean how can we judge whether or not the Unicorn clan is overpowered or not if are no rules for Calvary anywhere:wacko:! ...or any of the other various things that need more details to know of its functioning properly.
