Star Wars Clone Wars: Cyclone Squad IC

As Mynock sees the barrage of red bolts over his repulsor cart cover and plascrete rumble collapsing, he drops prone to secure himself. “That’s right you lazer bolt rods, keep it coming!” he taunts. Upon hearing Spanner’s warning in the skirmish, Mynock confirms a clear path before returning fire. “Have your parabolic guides dodge this!” he shouts, blasting at the newly discovered droids.

Why thank you, my valiant knight!

Akua yelled to Spanner before twirling away from the squad, in the process slicing another as she engaged another squad of droids, lashing out with the other side of her lightsaber at another, leaving Spanner to deal with the droids she had been fighting just a moment ago.

Spanner glances up at the comment about being a knight, he laughs through his helmet.  "In that case..." he revs the speeder to full power and guns it, aiming right for the center of their grouping.  "Tallyho you rust buckets!!  Have at thee!  And other stuff like that!!"    His head flings back at the sudden acceleration, but he stays on target, plowing into them like a game of Neerdonian Spheres.   He spins the vehicle to a stop in the midst of them, and surveys the damage.

One of the new battle droids is obliterated as it is struck in the chest plate by the incoming speeder bike. Sparks erupt out of the metal casing and wires and scraps of metal or tossed everywhere. However the superior armour plating of the others mean they area able to survive the unorthodox attack. It seems that they are going to take something more extreme to be dealt with for good.

The few remaning B1 droids turn their attention to Slugger, having just wiped out an entire squad their combat programming marks him as a priority target. Despite the jedi cutting through their number they open fire on the clone and manage to land a couple of viscous blows against his armour. Still, their numbers are thinned, and victory seems to be in the grasps of Cyclone squad. Unless something drastic happens, they will be able to reach the next level of the city scape soon enough.

Slugger turns Martha to bear on the next group of droids advancing, "You attacked the wrong planet Clankers!" He shouts and unleashed the full might of Martha upon the advancing droids destroying the entire group where they stood. The reduction of incoming enemy fire gave Cyclone Squad the ability tp breathe and opportunity to attack!

However wiping a squad gets them to focus all their fire on Slugger, he takes several shots to his armor, thankfully none were fatal, "DOC, I NEED BACTA AFTER THIS!" He screams into his helmet communicator as he dodges the remaining bolts of the volley.

Doc moves to Slugger after his call for help.

"I'll have to give a stim for now, but after this whole thing, I'll be able to patch you up." Doc had been meaning to test out a blend for stimpacks that allowed them to work longer than usual.

After injection showed no problems, Doc gave a pat on Slugger's shoulder. "You should be able take a bit more now, brother, but it's a stopgap for now."

The new battle droids shuffle around to turn their blasters on the courageous clone who had driven into them. As fast as he may have been with the attack, now he was stationary he wasn't as fast as a blaster bolt. One shot would punch through his calf, while another catches him in the arm as he protects his head from a particularly close shot. If he didn't move soon these droids were going to tear him apart.

Spanner grunts and curses as the plasma bolts shoot through him.  "Gah!!" He howls, gritting his teeth at the pain.  "Oh!  So that's how you want to play it you rust buckets?!?!  Ok then!!"  He kicks the control panel on the speeder, exposing the wiring to the engine core, and begins to fiddle.  He hums to himself, muttering something about wires as he switches them around.  "Positive into greeeen, blows everything thing to smithereeeens!"   He finishes the cable switching, and the sounds of the humming engine, and the ambient lights from the systems begin to increase in pitch and luminosity.  "Fire in the...well not the hole, but the speeder I guess!!!  There will likely be a significant hole soon though!"  He proceeds to move out of the vehicle, and heading away from the speeder and the increasingly likely blast radius.

Slugger takes the opportunity given to him by spanner to finish the fight, jumping out of the cover he was hidden in he fires Martha at the 3 remaining droids. "TAKE THAT CLANKERS!" He shouts as he guns them down. When the dust settles no droids remain Slugger turns to the group. "Just like the Simulations!"

Doc let out a deep breath. With the fight over, he moves over to Spanner.

"Take a deep breath now, get your bearings. Let's get you fixed up for the next fight."

A stimpack and some treatment later, Doc is finished with Spanner.

"Looks like you're as good as new. Nice job with the trap, brother."

Spanner lets out a sigh of relief at the cessation of pain, sagging a bit at the sensation.  He takes his helmet off to get some fresh air, and to admire his explosion with his own eyes.  He thumps Doc on the arm.  "Oh come on brother, the trap?  That was nice, sure"  He gestures at the explosion.  "That's WAY more fun right there!"   He glances around, surveying the situation.  "Any casualties from the civilians?"  He sobers a bit at that, glancing back. "...um, you know, aside for one of their vehicles I mean."

As the jedi and Spanner rush away from the speeder there is an audible sparking noise before the bike falls silent again. For a minute it seems like it has failed, and then there is a tremendous boom tearing out of the jury rigged engine. A burning ball flashes over the droids before a hail of shrapnel tears through their shining armour. In mere seconds the squad is decimated, and one of the B1's is left in a surprisingly neat pile of spare parts at the shards of metal meet it.

The three remaining droids are sliced down by Martha and her man with some real precision firing. With that, the soldiers are left in the relative silence of the aftermath of the battle. In the far of distance they can here the crackle of gunfire, the occasional explosion and the the screams of civilians here and there. They truly were in a warzone.

Left with the broken remains of the familiar B1's and the stange new battle droids, the clones and jedi has a chance to catch their breath, but they still had an objective. They had to get to the next level to help evacuate those civilians, but what about these new droids? And the corrupted message that Spanner had located?

A somewhat bemused squad leader catches himself observing the female Jedi, as she flits about.. We win, eh..?

Not knowing quite what to do with this, he directs his focus to the task at hand.. moving forward, then.. lead, follow, or get the frak out of the way...

"Cyclones Squad! To the lift, but form up on me, search formation. Eyes out for clankers, survivors, or anything.. hinky.."

As he moves out, he looks to the Commanders, and again finds himself glancing at the strangely garbed Jedi with the covered eyes.. can she see us.. sense us.. read our thoughts...?

"Cyclones! Let's move."

As the squad  carry on down the street from the battlefield they round the corner and come into view of the turbo lift. It is a large tower that runs alongside the skyscrapers, and looks big enough to fit at least fifty people inside. The lift is a simple flat disc for people to use to traverse the different levels of the city. It looks more like a service lift, probably used by the merchants and workers of the area rather than the residents. Still, it will carry the squad to where they need to be faster than the LAAT/i's.

It would not take long to reach the lift, but as they approach the clones and jedi see a problem. The control panel near the back of the lift is sparking and fizzing froma  shattered screen. It looks like the droids tried to disable the lift before marching on this level. It may be possible to fix it, but they may have to find another way to the upper level.

Akua smiles and sent a beaming smile towards Gunslinger before she skips off, heading to the rear of the column.

Ok, time to go everyone! Keep together, make sure you don’t carry anything you don’t need and most of all, don’t worry! We’ll keep you safe!

The female beamed. Despite her cheery attitude, she had strategically placed herself in a position where if any ambush happened at the back, the civilians would be protected directly by her, with a lightsaber and without.

Spanner heads up to it.  "Let's see here, what did they do to you little buddy?"  He says to the panel.  He idly looks it over, then proceeds to type a few keys on the display, bringing up windows that normally wouldn't be accessible to the public.  "Little bypass never hurt anyone..."  and with a few beeps, the display turns to green.  Spanner gestures to the lift.  "All aboard for the express route."

"They've been evacuated."

Doc moved with the rest of the squad as Gunslinger had them move out.

Before jumping onto the turbloift, Anler receives a call on his com unit. Sergeant Thyre needed assistance, it seemed that he had accidentally uncovered a pocket of droids and they were getting in the way of the evacuation progress. Anler would turn to make a dash back the way they came, taking the member of the Coruscant guard with him. However he did not leave before leaving wishing his squad, his friends luck, and saying 'may the force be with you'.

The turbolift would rumble deep below the squads feet, and suddenly would shoot up into the air. They were moving at dizzying speeds, the walls blurring as they move up towards the next level. In a mere couple of minutes they begun to slow, emerging at their destination. It was the road of a residential area, and it was in utter chaos.

The battles below had been nothing in comparison to what they saw here. The Courscant guard had erected a hastily made barrier of speeders, scraps of sheet metal and fallen masonry. There must be at least of hundred of the soldiers clad in white and red, and behind them the fallen. Dead and wounded clones being dragged from the battle field. Behind the fighting line were hundreds of civilians, cowering and shouting as they were trapped in the battle zone. With the elevator broken they had nowhere to go before. In front of the clones and the barrier were a horde of droids. Not just the B1's or the new droids, but probes as well.

Near the elevator were two clones, one fallen with another trying in vain to see to them. The dead soldier seemed to be; or rather have been, the commanding officer of the defensive force. The clones were currently without a leader, and their line was crumbling fast under the endless march of the droids.

Oh... bye An-an...

Akua said softly as she waved.

Upon reaching the next level and seeing the battle, Akua immediately leapt forward.

Cyclone, group our civilians with the big group there and protect them. If possible, looks for a way to herd then out of the area.

Turning to the clone near them, she then asked.

Who’s the next highest commanding officer here?

The soldier would glance up at the jedi, his bucket hiding whatever facial expression he may have. 'Sir! The lieutenant was the ranking officer here, but with him,' the soldier would pause as he struggles with the words. He chooses to skip it entirely, carrying on as quickly as he can. 'The sergeants are trying to keep the defence going, but it's falling apart out here! The droids are too many, and with the turbolift broken we had no way out!' The soldier would finally begin to compose himself, getting to his feet to face the squad. 'What are your orders commander?'

Spanner, is the turbolift operational to bring us up to the upper levels of Coruscant?

Akua then turned to ask.

For now, I think our best bet is to use the rubble and debris to have a makeshift barrier, and post clones along it to cover the retreat of the civilians. However, unless we have reinforcements, we will lose that way, so Cyclones, do you think you can find a way to hut the droid army from behind and take their commander out?
