Star Wars Clone Wars: Cyclone Squad IC

As the padawan charges into the fray, one of the droids would let out a wail of horror as it takes a step back. 'O, open fire!' it would shout and the squad would fire in unison. For a bunch of test droids, they were suprisingly effective, able to catch Anler in the shoulder with a shot, and although it would take more to stop the force user, is did give the droids a chance to backpedal frantically away from him.

Gunslinger trusts his Commander with handling the first squad of clankers, and fires determinedly into the second squad with both pistols blazing. Again, however, he achieves no effective hits. Dammit?! 

"Slugger, take that B2 on the right."

As Mynock was scanning for movement, a sudden batch of B1 droids quickly advance towards Cyclone’s location. “We got incoming at Twelve O’ Clock” the clone shouts, blasting heavy fire at the enemy. Hitting an array of droids with red bolts, a few B1’s go down which lessens the resistance towards the objective.

The B1 droids put up an effective barrage of fire, but Anler has little trouble deflecting the shots. It does delay him a bit, as he has to slow down to block the blaster bolts. When he finally sees a chance to strike as the droid attempt to fall back, he advances quickly, cutting down two droids and connecting solidly with the torso of the third, who gives him a startled look as the training saber gives it a bad shock.

OOC: Anler uses Reflect to mitigate the damage, only taking 1 wound from the attack. He then advances and cuts into the droids:

That's a hit for 8 damage with Breach 1, which is enough to take down one droid and seriously damage another, unless I'm mistaken. He will use one advantage to activate a critical hit, taking out another droid. The second advantage will be used to recover strain.

As the same relentless patch of B1 droids progress forward firing at Cyclone squad, Mynock pops his head above the barricade aiming at his foes. Beginning to fire, the clone shouts "Have your servoprocessors dodge this!" blasting a few direct shots into the B1 droids approaching. The clone was highly motivated to close-in towards the citadel once the path was more clear.

CT - 2112 moves forward with his squad, laying down fire.  He watches as the combined assault drops an entire unit of droids, save for one.  "I got it!"  He calls out, calmly aiming his heavy blaster pistol and unleashing a bolt into the torso of the droid.  It shudders and sizzles, gears and circuits fusing together from the heated bolt.  He watches it collapse, and then proceeds to call out.  "Enemy squad down! That side!"  He points in the direction where the droids were no longer shooting them from.

Slugger set Martha up on the cover before him to steady his aim,While Songbird always made fun of his aim he failed to realize that to use a Rotary Canon one always needed more aim than just a standard DC-15 rifle. He was gonna make sure that Cyclone would beat Acklay's time. He let loose a carefully aimed volley from the Barrels of his Cannon, Downing the two Unscathed B2 Battle Droids with ease, and cleaning up the other squad of B1's still left standing. "That's how you aim Gunslinger." He would Joke at his Captains expense.

As the droids are torn through by the clones, the second wave would begin to advance, firing their rifles and wrist blasters as the went. Unsurprisingly, the devastating attack courtesy of Slugger want him some unwanted attention as one squad fired on his position. The concentration of fire on his location made it difficult at best to return fire without taking any more stun shots. Fortunately only a few glancing blows clipped the gunner. 

The recently christened Spanner would also come under heavy fire He would catch a glancing blow off of the top of his helmet, but fortunately it is not enough to bring him down. It was enough to give the young trooper quite the shock as the electricity courses through the metal. It also made him drop the gun in his hand thanks to the impact. As he is staggered the droids would press the advantage, firing at the others as they continue their steady march. 

The B2 battle droids were more a concerning threat to the squad. The two of them lumbered forwards to attack. There may be less of them, but they are better armoured and no less of a threat. They opened fire on Gunslinger and  he takes a shot to the calf that he hadn't quite manage to pull behind the defensive barrier in time.

Doc moves to cover and immediately engages a B1 squad with his rifle after he sees the squad, and Spanner in particular, get hit. One goes down with several shots to the chest. Another gets a bit more than the paint scratched off. One droid had the unfortunate luck to seize up after a single shot hit him.

"Focus fire on the B1s, give Spanner some time to recover," he would say, pointing towards the squad he hit.

11 damage reduced to 7 and I'll have the triumph score a critical to kill off a B1, so that's two B1s down, one slightly wounded. The advantage will give a Boost to the next PC.

Seeing the droids applying heavy fire on Cyclone, Mynock turns to aid Doc with the same B1 droid squad. “Over here you scrap heaps! Time for your tyrannical supporting bolts to destabilize!” he shouts, behind the barricade blasting precise shots. With the aid of Doc, the pair finishes off the small approaching B1 squad.

The clones are doing a great job cutting down the droids. Anler pauses a moment to assess the situation. The most dangerous threat between the clones and the objective are the B2 battle droids with their rapid-fire wrist-mounted blasters. Moving quickly he rushes towards the droids. The notice him too late, shifting their fire towards the Jedi at the last moment. He easily deflects the fire from the two droids before closing in and swinging his lightsaber in a long arc at the first droid's legs, paralyzing it and causing it to fall over. He then spins around and thrusts his lightsaber at the other droid, taking it out of the fight. 

Anler doesn't stop moving, rushing forward into cover close to the clones. "Forward, we have to take the flag fast if we want to set a new record," he shouts at the others, blocking a few blaster bolts coming their way as he speaks.

Anler uses a maneuver to close with the two B2 droids and then attacks.

Not bad! That's 7 damage, breach 1. I'll use one advantage to activate a critical hit, and thus take out both the droids. I'll use the three remaining advantages to recover some strain. The Triumph will be used to allow Anler to move into cover with the rest of the team.

2112 shudders as the blaster bolts arc through him, making him spasm and twitch.  He feels his pistol drop to the ground, and he grunts as the disabling blast passes. "Core's Glow, that bloody hurt!"  He takes a look around as the situation changes, kneels down to reclaim his weapon, and moves to cover with his brothers.

Can't really take an attack action, so he double moves to pick up gun and then move to cover.

Gunslinger charges forward, following their Commander toward the freshly arrived battle droids. Both pistols are blazing away, but firing on the run is a lot different than practicing marksmanship at the range, it would seem. 

As the enemy rifles raise, the unlucky squad leader prepares to sidestep the anticipated return-fire.

"Spanner, If you're gonna pick that thing up, point and shoot!" 

"Forward! Double-time! Take out those towers!" We'll be in their range the longest. Don't need to kill all these B1s- just need to run the gauntlet...

 

(Sidestep to Upgrade All incoming ranged attacks, suffers 2 Strain) @KungFuFerret You can take the Strain.

Slugger moves forward to more cover as his brothers leave him behind in their advance, he plants Martha atop the cover and takes aim at the B2's that just appeared with the Commander's advance. He fires at the droids damaging two heavily and destroying two more. "Come on boys I can't take all the Glory myself!"

28 damage which is just one shy to wipe two squads  but kills two B2's any way. Moved to cover one range band closer and aimed used last advantage to give setback to first droid that fires at slugger if none fire at slugger then first that fires period.

2112 looks around the area, his mind calculating, and suddenly he brightens up. "I've got an idea!"  He runs over and grabs some of the parts from one of the battle droids, and begins rummaging around in the chassis.  It starts to take on the shape of something more explodey, but then it sparks and fizzles, the few lights showing energy in the husk fading out entirely.  "....well that's disappointing"  He said, and drops the metal to the ground with a thud.

Cyclone squad was passing the half way mark of the test, and as they do the orders to take the tower would ring clear through the coms set in their helmet. Not that they didn't know what they where here to do already. There was still a sea of enemies between them and their goal however, and they would not let them pass easily. 

The towers may be the biggest threat to the cadets and padawan, not because of the droids commanding them, but because of the heavy blaster cannon mounted on the rail around the edge. Slowly they would swivel to fire on the squad, strafing the ground as they go. CT-6180 would see the hail of blaster fire heading right for him, but he would be able to duck behind the barrier he was behind just in time for it miss him. One shot nearly takes off his foot, reminding the recruit to keep tucked in close to the barrier.

Doc would have a similar near miss with the tower. The gunfire would audibly punch into the barrier he was behind time and time again as the slow clunking droid brain tries to adjust its aim. It would not be long before their find their target. 

While the towers attempt to pin down the squad, the surviving B1 battle droid squads would try to pick the clones off every time they poke out of cover. 

Fortunately for the squad, B1 droids are not famed for their aim, and almost all of the shots collide with the barriers they use for defence or simply go wide. It is not with quality that the droid army wins a battle though, it is with sheer numbers, and this the droids had in this test. 6180's luck  runs out this time as he takes a shot to the forearm. The squad have gone to far to be beaten here however, enduring this for jsut a little while longer will get them off of Kamino, and into untold adventure and glory.

Doc takes cover from the shots coming from the tower, and waits for the right moment. A few seconds later, the sounds of the blaster fire around him seem to start drifting off in an attempt to punch through. He takes that chance to prop his blaster rifle on top of the barrier and aim down the sights.

"Good day, clankers," he mutters as blaster fire takes down the operators on the heavy blaster cannon, rendering it quiet.

"Right tower silenced, flank cleared!" he yelled at comms. That bit of good news should help the rest of Cyclone.

Taking a blaster bolt to the arm, Mynock shouts “Son of a droid-foundry! I’m hit!”. Quickly recovering from the initial shock, CT-6180 follows Doc moving up to the next barrier for cover and aims at the left tower. Focusing on the animated pile of bolts operating the heavy blaster cannon, Mynock fires a direct bolt into the droid. Downing the operator, Mynocks informs Cyclone “Left tower clear!”.

"Nice job with the towers, guys!" 

Gunslinger finds himself dodging incoming fire from another squad of B-1s, and automatically returns fire, wiping out several of them.

(Hits for 10, Triumph to hit with 2nd pistol for another 10, suffers 1 Strain)

Anler takes a moment from behind the low wall to assess the situation. There is still a lot of droids between them and the objective, but the B1s have not been too effective so far. Some of his troopers have taken hits though, so they won't last too long out here.

"We need to push forward, but do it smart," he tells the clones, shouting to be heard over the blasters. "I'll draw their fire, you mow them down and then push on towards the next cover, and from there up to the flag."

He sees Gunslinger nodding as the clone blasts a few droids and hopes the clones are up to the task. Ducking low, runs out of cover. The closest cluster of B1s are focused on the clones and don't notice the young Jedi until he's withing striking range. "Uh-oh, that's the Jed..." one of them manages to say before Anles batters him with the lightsaber, before using the force to push it into a pair of it's companions. Two droids fall in a jumble.

That's a maneuver to close with the droids and then an attack:

Well that was an ...interesting roll. It hits for 12 damage, breach one, but the GM has three threats to spend.

Just as a reminder, the first two attacks against Anler will be upgraded twice, and suffer a setback from his armor.

CT-2112 having dropped the failed grenade on his own foot, let's out a grunt of pain.  His face turns up in a snarl and he decides to direct his frustration at the droids.  He takes out his pistol, and lobs a few bolts down range at a group of droids.   He drops one of them, and grazes another.

Slugger Takes aim at a squad of 2  B1's and shoots them to shreds, "Looks like we are gonna make it boys!" He would shout into the comms. Seeing a group of 5 B1's approaching the squad he put down some suppressing fire to make their already piss poor aim worse.

As the padawan runs forwards to engage the droids, the final units spring to life. Again the droids are unable to do any effective damage against their opponents, but they do have a few fortunate strikes against the squad. The sheer numbers and hail of blaster fire keeps the troops largely trapped in cover, giving the droids a an advantage as they hold their ground. It is now that they manage to strafe along Sluggers left side, a few shots punching into his protective gear. Anler also finds himself outflanked as a second squad turns against him. Suddenly he finds himself caught out in the open, and as severe risk. Gunslinger finds himself under fire as the towers auto-turrets spring into life. Although they are weak, their numbers make up for this as he catches a couple of shots to the shoulder. CT-6180 narrowly avoids a beating from the heavy blaster cannons mounted at the base of the tower, although they do trap him behind his barrier. In the final leg of the scenario, they were so close to graduating.
