Wish this was First Order vs the Resistance

One movie ain't enough material to support a game like this, and rumor is prequel trilogy material is off limits except in certain cases as to prevent people from thinking the new movies will also be about trade deals and sand.

I agree. There's just not enough involving the new trilogies yet. I see the first order units being added to the empire and rest Iran etc units being added to the rebels like how they've done with X-Wing.

This is a Table Top Minis game... and despite the success of X-wing, games like these are best with more than 2 factions.

In a perfect world we would see the following armies:

The Republic (Clone troopers, Jedi, etc)
The Confederacy of Independent Systems, aka: The Separatists (Droid army, etc)
The Galactic Empire (covered)
The Alliance to Restore the Republic, aka: Rebel Alliance (covered)
The Resistance (yeah... we really have nothing here)
The First Order (First Order troopers, Knights of Ren, more)

My fear is that we will get some stupid, stupid, oh so very stupid, Scum & Villainy thing. Scum and Villainy should stick to being mercenary like add-ons to the main forces. But we will probably get them as a faction because people get all frothy-mouthed over Mandos.

I like your list and the fact that it provides more team cohesion even if your list may not make sense against your opponent's. But we lose that anyways by having mirror matches, so why should we care that much about the timeline aspect.

I would also rather not see a Scum and Villany faction that acts as a catch-all, but think Mandalorians would be a great stand-alone. A lot of the actual decision depends on how much flexibility FFG has with their license, which we'll probably never know.

I'd like to see Mandalorian troop be a mercenary unit that could be employed by either side with a limit of 1 or 2 units per match and the rebels have Sabine as the captain or a specialist and the imperials have Garr Saxon as their Mandalorian Commander.

In all honesty this is looking likey with the way rebels season 4 is shaping up.....

Mind you they could use the various cartels and deathwatch as an army from that tcw arc where maul and opress breifly took charge of them all

If nothing else than to give Imperial Assault its space and reduce the number of redundant figures.  I'd rather a base set with Ray and Kylo Ren too.  There would be a lot potential in the armies there.

Noooooooooooooo Leave the Star Wars New episodes characters like Kylo Ren till later, preferably when the game is dying.

I was totally blown away by all the Resistance ground troops running around in The Force Awakens.  The different weapons, the vehicles, it was just begging for a tabletop game to be made.  I was really impressed with how Rey was able to rally all those weary soldiers to go over the wall and storm the First Order fortifications.

Now sarcasm aside, until a bunch of stuff shows up in those movies to justify inclusion in a game like Legion, you'll be holding your proverbial breath for some time.

There wasn't even much in the original trilogy to be honest, and other than an AT-ST/AT-AT/Snowspeeder, that Core box is everything from the movies, which isn't much.  Luke certainly wasn't a boots-on-the-ground type in an armed conflict; he's more like a commander of a squadron of space ships, until he takes off to learn how to be a Jedi, and then he just comes and goes like the wind.

I'm in the same boat. I really like the design of TFA. I know we don't have a lot in the way of ground troops for either the Resistance or the First Order, but if we're being honest, the biggest variety in military units in Star Wars has always been ships. In the starter set there's already a walker pulled from Clone Wars so that the Rebels have something comparable to the Empire's bikes. That's not really a criticism, the walker makes sense, but if they're just gonna have to fill in gaps anyway, there's space for that in the new Era. Plus, it's not like a new wave is gonna come out every month. We're gonna get some new stuff on screen to pull from this December.

Plus by the time the game hits the shelves, the 2nd of 3 movies will be out too.  They could have had any number of opportunities to incorporate items from Last Jedi in if they wanted.  Every toy maker/game maker gets NDA approved insight into the designs.

This is the no-brainer safest marketing choice.

There's a lot of people that are very outspoken about not liking the prequel movies.

There's a lot of people that are very outspoken about not liking the sequel movies.

Everybody likes the original movies.

It's the most logical thing to do if FFG wants to sell a lot of Legion.

I hope they will keep the game in one era.

I can live with mirror games (except Vader vs Vader maybe). Traitor factions happened in the empire (Tie Fighter story?) and rebels are the alliance of different factions, and not all of them are allied (Saw Guerrera?)

Some scum/mercenary/independent faction will decrease the number of mirror games a lot.

I hate what happened in X-Wing. Kylo Ren in one squad with Vader Vs Poe end Rex. This is no longer part of Star Wars setting.
