Wait till the game officially recognizes punning with some new Character or card that specifically rewards the player with the best/worst puns. Say the player recognized by a neutral party as making the best pun gets a bonus in political combat that turn :)

YES. I've wanted an L5R 'Unglued' set for YEARSSS

New role cards leaked: Seeker of Puns and Keeper of Puns. One or the other is required to play the role - specific province, Wonderland. It has province strength 3, and its ability reads:

Reaction: After defenders are declared for a conflict at this province, select one attacker and one defender - switch control of the selected characters until the end of the conflict.

Flavor text: "We're all a little mad here. "

comes in response and opposition to "what if we stop being @ssholes to other people?"

Are you arguing the banzai chat constitutes "being @ssholes to other people"?

Or by people wanting only THEIR politics in the [fiction/game] in question, not everybody else's.

And what politics do you think L5R players are inserting into the game with the banzai chant?

No.

The witch-hunting happening in this topic regarding the original blog post, however...

Being OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD during an event that is already loud enough as it is.

But then, I hate loudness.

Everything involving interacting with human behavior is inherently political, because politics is the action of moderating our behavior.

You have no idea how destructive that sentiment is. It rips identity from the individual and permits any atrocity against them because you're no longer dealing with a person, you're dealing with an ideology; a collection of beliefs and goals.

And ideologies aren't human and don't  deserve the effort of what moderating our behavior actually is.

Civility.

And civility forces us to look past the ideology, past the politics, and see the person once again.

It's the internet: easy anonymity, electronic separation, and the glorification of convenience . Civility is extremely difficult to achieve with those hurdles.

Actually civility, and manners , is what keeps us from killing each other. Social rules are great, not so we can see each other's inner being, but so we can function as a group.

Human interaction is a negotiation. I guess political is a way to put it.

I would like to thank SU&SD for ruining the Banazai! chant ... now let's all enjoy the even more awkward and cringy generic chant in Enligsh .... yupey ...

You're implying people are going to stop yelling banzai.  They probably aren't.   Itl be nice fuel for the offended on behalf of others who weren't going to play the game anyway crowd though.

I'd just like to point out that Banzai originates from Chinese, Korean and Japanese etymology.  It has been used for well over 2,000 years to celebrate joyous events.  Originally meaning "10,000 years of life" but becoming generally accepted and used in multiple cultures as a joyous chant similar to "hip hip hurrah" or "Huzzah."  In 1889 Japan made "Banzai" the official national shout.  During World War II Japanese soldiers would shout “Temo Heika banzai” meaning ”Long Live the Emperor!”  Or sometimes in short just "Banzai" but carrying the full meaning.  Banzai is not meant to nor does it even mean anything derogatory in even the slightest.  I can understand certain groups of people, with national and family history deeply impacted by the events of WW2 and specifically the Imperial Japanese military would have and still hold harsh feeling towards that culture.  Banzai was not created by Imperial Japan during WW2, it was created and deeply in bedded in culture around the Asian continent for well over 2,000 years.  It is an exclamation of joy, still used today in parts of the world.
