Does Snap Shot get a range bonus?

No, it doesn't because it's a secondary weapon.

It's good because it allows you to shoot at ships before they're able to take actions.  On a low PS ship; you could position yourself in a way that a higher PS opponent will end up finishing their move within range of Snap Shot.  Even though you can't modify the dice (with one or two exceptions), a two dice shot against a naked Fen Rau, or Colonel Ves could make a difference.  At the very least, knowing Snap Shot is in play could force your opponent to fly differently to avoid the risk altogether; which you can use to your advantage.

Interesting. I guess I am just under valuing it because it is 2 red dice. I'll have to give it a shot sometime. Thank you for your help!

It only denies more shots "this phase" which means when you use it during the Activation phase you're completely free to use what ever attack you want, possibly even Snap Shot again although there are usually better options, during the Combat Phase of the game.

Although if you happened to be using Outrider with a HLC having Snap Shot would give you a R1 attack method.  It may not be all that useful but it's there.

I don't think that'd work mate.  Outrider specifically mentions 'Cannon' based upgrades as being affected.  Snap Shot isn't a cannon upgrade.

Outrider doesn't modify Snap Shot but it does NOT shut it down either allowing it's use even when you can't use the ship's Primary Attack.

Ah, sorry mate.  Misread your post.  Yeah, you're right, SS would give you a R1 shot (in arc) with Outrider equipped.  Situational for sure, but could come in handy.  That said, there are so many other EPTs that suit the YT-2400 better.

The best carrier for snap shot is by far the Green Squadron Pilot. I fly Snap Shot a lot, probably my most used upgrade overall, and I find the GSP A-Wing is the best way to do it. Paired with Juke you get a very good little ship. Snap shot is more than just a way to get a little extra damage through, it also helps play a control element. It's a control element because your opponent does not want to get snap shot by an A-Wing with Juke. So they will either go for an intentional bump or try to stay Range 2. It lets you play mind games on how fast and hard your going to go. I have gotten pretty good at flying the little buggers too and have done decent damage with the group.

There are also a ton of fun little support combos too! If you fly Jan Ors with the A-Wings then you can toss a third dice onto the snap shot! If you put Operations Specialist on someone then they can focus up for the main engagement! M9G8 is also fun, target lock one of the A-wings, fire with the assist of Jan Ors. Now you can reroll 1 die, juke an opponent die, and throw 3 dice. Chances are your going to get damage through! Then my ultimate favorite is Swarm Leader with Juke A-Wings. BUT Swarm Leader is most effective with Juking A-wings when paired with another PS3 pilot so that way you can get the R1 Juke shots off with the A-Wings. So Jess Pava. Leaves enough room for Jan Ors. Then you got my favorite little list that has a better than 80% w/l ratio. 

Sure Nym says 'screw you" to Snap Shot A-Wings, but I have let an A-wing get bootf**ked by Nym just to setup a snap shot, and usually it's a pair and I still get two range one shots after the fact (on the first exchange anyways). 

I love pairing two of these GSP A-Wings with any high cost 'ace" in the rebel alliance, from Rey to Poe or Corran. They are an underrated and underestimated.

I keep wanting to put Ten Numb on the field with Snap Shot.  If you roll a crit, it goes through automatically.  You can either get an FCS to get mods for strong shot, or use Enhanced Scopes to set up the best position you can.  Plus you can put Operations Specialist in the E2 slot, and token up the rest of the squad (2x Green Squadron Pilot + Sabine TIE, possibly with Rex crew).

SS/FCS/APT add up to 10 points.  With the package, Nera Dantels, Virago + Mk. II Black Sun Assassin, and Havoc Lok Revenant are all 36 points before other upgrades, Cassian Andor is 37 (with a wider arc).  You can almost do the same thing with a Contracted Scout with Bossk instead of FCS, at 35 points.  This might be the best version of it, with the wider arc and you'll be able to barrel roll into position due to the Bossk focus token, but you could get unlucky and hit with Snap Shot.

Dang.  Doing that you'd better figure out how to include Extra Munitions on there as well to get a second shot with an APT.

EM, 2

 

And it even works if they dodge your arc after you snap shot!

Not much of a strategy, but it could work in certain situations.

No need for Range Bonus... here's a 4 Dice attack.  
(remember, adding dice before the roll is not a modification)

A-Wing + Title + Snapshot EPT + Opportunist EPT
Jan Ors as Wingman.

still, you gotta be able to be in the right position to get it to trigger ;)
