The Rebel Fleet 94 Posted August 26, 2017 I hope we can all share what we are making and how so we all dont have to reinvent the wheel!!! This is my first attempt at Legion terrain, its going to be "Battle at the moisture farm" theme Its still drying and I want to get some brown shading oil but this is my maim building, net some smaller out buildings, moisture evaporators, and rocky terrain I used foam board and crazy glue, styro dome. Drywall muded it all with light sanding to give it a desert feel and some light tan paint! I also wanted a clear spot on top for climbing/jumpinp/jetpacking to. 15 Undeadguy, poke450, Megatronrex and 12 others reacted to this

Not my idea either, I saw it on a FOW terrain video for North Africa buildings. But go nuts!!!! 1 Undeadguy reacted to this
Lord Ashram 988 Posted August 27, 2017 Heh heh heh, I have a feeling some of the more traditional FFG gamers will be in for a bit of culture shock when they run into the tabletop guys:) 4 srMontresor, The Rebel Fleet, Rumar and 1 other reacted to this
Attackmack 521 Posted August 27, 2017 Brilliant piece of terrain right there! A few more pieces like this and you have a wonderful gaming table that people drool over (so make sure to coat the pieces!)!

C3POFETT 833 Posted August 28, 2017 (edited) Great work, I too have begun making terrain for Legion. It was originally intended for 3D skirmish maps for Imperial Assault but I am amping them up for Legion. I began with Tattooine huts or buildings and I am also working on a Death Star / Imperial Space Station Interior. Here are 3 of the 10 huts I have done. Not painted and no doors put on yet. I plan to cut out windows and illuminate them too. Edited August 31, 2017 by C3POFETT mispelling 1 The Rebel Fleet reacted to this

The arches are actually made of foam core using a protractor and an ex-acto knife. They are double layered using a two inch by two inch square rounding out the top half with the protractor. I doubled it up using a one quarter inch frame. The doors and wall supports are applied after the main structure including the dome has completely dried. The doors will be printed labels which will be trimmed and applied as soon as I am happy with the design and weathered look. C3POFETT 833 Posted August 28, 2017 (edited) For Round Tattoine buildings cut your foam core to the desired height and width. Along the entire width score the foam core vertically in one quarter inch intervals and hot glue your ends together. Hope this helps if you want to change up the look of your structures. magnumhan 32 Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) good work sir, now i have good ideas to modify my square MDF buildings. excellent idea on the door arches, for some reason trying to think of an easy way to do them, escaped me. question: where did you get the files for the internal DS decals , or as Ricky says "deck-nals" ??? Mep 2,290 Posted August 29, 2017 Umm, it looks like a cake. The dry wall effect just isn't to scale. May I suggest taking a trip to Ace hardware and looking at their spray paints. There are some there that provide a textured surface that may look good at this scale. Could also try using a sponge on the dry wall mix to give a more fine texture so it doesn't look like a cake. 1 Manchu reacted to this

One you paint and apply some shading oil/paint it looks totally different! 1 C3POFETT reacted to this

freebird285 22 Posted August 30, 2017 As soon as I repair my currently non-operational 3D printer I'm going to start making terrain for this game. Some stuff I think can be easily scratch built.
Manchu 966 Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) Neat work so far - may I suggest using something like sand paper to apply a texture to the spackle before it dries. Could give a better sense of scale/less "cake icing" appearance. @Mep also posted a good idea, could be neat to combine both techniques. Also whose thread is it anyway - @The Rebel Fleet or @C3POFETT? Edited August 30, 2017 by Manchu 1 The Rebel Fleet reacted to this

Manchu 966 Posted August 30, 2017 Great result for first time! Good example of how you can get nice results without experience or tons of money. Ideas for details like texturing will start coming to mind whenever you happen to stroll through a DIY store from now on, trust me.
Force Majeure 4,108 Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) I've always wanted to do some waterfalls or similar. How is terrain like a river or marsh handled in other games? I read on the forums that there seem to be a lot of similarities between Legion and Dust Warfare--or was it Dust Tactics? Anyone have some knowledge to share? Edited August 30, 2017 by Force Majeure
Manchu 966 Posted August 31, 2017 Terrain in miniatures gaming has three basic purposes: block LOS provide cover modify movement Rivers and marshes usually modify movement. That's the traditional approach to terrain. There is a growing trend to make terrain interactive. Basic example: models within X" of Y terrain receive Z bonus. 1 Force Majeure reacted to this
