I made a glue mistake

8 posts in this topic

So I got my core set and glued everything together before I painted them. Not a problem, except for Ardus whom I can't do the chest on because of that darn left hand axe. Any tips for undoing the glue?

The area you're talking about, that's blocked by his hand.... is also blocked by his hand so nobody can see it. Don't worry about it.

Trust me. I'm the guy who used to paint his space marine bolters separately so he could paint the chest eagle.... which they then covered up.

Paint that part first -- get some paint in there anyway you can.  Touch up the edges you can see and continue on.  No ones tearing that arm off to prove you didn't get it perfect :)

I recently purchased some pre-owned reanimates which were shoddily glued together, and I like to paint before glue. A few minutes of pulling them this way and that and got them all apart. Might not be so easy if your glue is strong though.

I intentionally glued them all first. I can't be bothered to paint what can't be seen. So far it hasn't been problematic. As glucose98 said, get the paint brush in there as best you can, and then paint the rest of the model. Not a big deal at all.

1) super glue doesn't like force, it is fragile and you can just break the bond

2) if you can't see it, you just slap your darkest shade in and around it and move on with life.

Generally if its covered you shouldnt bother painting more than the tips that you can see. Just wasting time/paint otherwise.

But you can usually get superglue off if you freeze it. Superglue doesnt like the cold, freezing it then delivering a shock can break the glue pretty easy.
Just be mindful you dont deliver too great a shock and bust the model lol.
