I have always hated when weapons are referred to as "heavy blaster pistol" or "blaster rifle". So I was wondering which weapons these were supposed to represent?

Hold out blaster - pistol that scout troopers use.

Light blaster pistol - DL 18

Blaster Pistol - DH 17, SE 14

Heavy Blaster Pistol - DL 44

Blaster Carbine - RTC - 97, EE3 Carbine

Blaster Rifle - E11, A280

Heavy Blaster Rifle - T 21

Sniper Rifle - DLT 19, Pulse Cannon

How's my list sound reasonable, or am I just a total nerd?!!

I don't quite get your complaint. The DL-18 is a light blaster pistol, so if you want your character to have that model blaster, just use the light blaster pistol stats. Ditto for all the others. This system isn't granular enough to really care too much about individual models of blaster (although there are some in the various splat books and adventures). And if it's really important for you that a DH17 be different from an SE14, talk to your GM about what the distinction might be.

I realize I may have come off harsher than intended. Annoyed would have been a better word than hate. Thanks on the response, though, I don't have anything other than the EotE and AoR beginner games, so I don't know if any of the books have specific weapons.

Yeah, some of the supplements have specific blasters and such. They usually do comparable damage and criticals, or they compensate for better stats with a game effect. For instance, the DL-7H Heavy Blaster Pistol is 8 base damage, Crit 3, but tends to blow its power cell (if you roll 2 Threat on the attack).

The Core books stick to generalities, and the various career/setting supplements expand from there.

The Core books also list various models underneath the weapon entries as examples. So the BlasTech DH-17 has the same basic stats as the Merr-Sonn Model 434, and the stormtrooper's E-11 blaster rifle has the same stats as the Rebel's A280.

Yup. Once we (SW D6 system, something like 15 years ago... man, how the time flies...) smuggled a bunch of Trident Enterprises blaster rifles from Mon Calamari to Corellia. They had the particularity of being able to shot an harpoon with one of its shooting settings. The gas of the weapon propelled the harpoon.  We fond this to be really cool.

Cheers,
Xavi

@Felswrath We wouldn't be here if we weren't total nerds, so no worries.  I had the same questions, but had a particular result I wanted: a catalog of blasters for my kids to rummage through while looking at which gun to buy.  I wanted to have as much visual representation as I could.  (I GM for my kids, so the target age is lower than most here).  I have so far only compiled a catalog of hold-out blasters and light blaster pistols,  I am linking it here if you want to download it.  I will eventually find the time to get all the weapons I can find in there, but for now this is what I have.

I have also come across lists of the different blasters on various sites people have put together, some from the resource list that is pinned, some from what others on the forums have led me to:
