Englishpete 1,379 Posted August 18, 2017 I have been tinkering with lists lately that contain an ISD (or more than one). I've also been looking at ways to 'successfully' incorporate some new tools with some less used older ones. This is the result. Faction: Galactic Empire Points: 398/400 Commander: Admiral Sloane Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery Defense Objective: Capture the VIP Navigation Objective: Solar Corona Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points) - Suppressor ( 4 points) - Boosted Comms ( 4 points) = 31 total ship cost Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points) - Boosted Comms ( 4 points) = 27 total ship cost Quasar Fire II-class Cruiser-Carrier (61 points) - Agent Kallus ( 3 points) - Flight Controllers ( 6 points) - Boosted Comms ( 4 points) = 74 total ship cost [ flagship ] Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points) - Admiral Sloane ( 24 points) - Avenger ( 5 points) - Minister Tua ( 2 points) - Boarding Troopers ( 3 points) - Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points) - X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points) - Leading Shots ( 4 points) = 161 total ship cost 1 "Howlrunner" ( 16 points) 1 Valen Rudor ( 13 points) 1 Soontir Fel ( 18 points) 1 Dengar ( 20 points) 1 Ciena Ree ( 17 points) 1 Darth Vader ( 21 points)
Norell 1,138 Posted August 18, 2017 You have plenty of fighters akready, why do you need BT too? I think it would make more sense to have Gunnery Teams. 1 Ardaedhel reacted to this
Englishpete 1,379 Posted August 18, 2017 The squadrons will certainly have to cut through other squadrons, meanwhile the BT/Avenger can kill a critical ship. If the squadrons tear up the enemy squadrons quickly that's just even more pressure on the opponent.
BrobaFett 4,201 Posted August 18, 2017 If you run Avenger, even with sloane, you typically will want to shoot for a double arc on the turn you expend Troopers. Flight commander is also useful here, as you can boarding trooper, double arc Avenger, then activate squads to mop up the last damage making sure you only put on the damage you need. This of course works better with an ISD-2 Avenger, which I have come to favor over the ISD-1 variant with Sloane. It simply brings a bigger threat range. I went back and forth A LOT with GT vs BT, and as you can see in the Autumn Tourney I overall feel like BT is the most consistent choice. I do miss GT to spray damage all over the place, but with Avenger I try to have a laser focus, pick a target and just erase it, whatever the biggest, baddest target they have because I know my Avenger is going to be bigger and badder. After that, he gets out of dodge so he doesn't trade. Maybe GT on a more slowroll Avenger with Sloane would be stronger, but I don't play my ISD's like that so I can't confirm. And whats up with not getting a table time! You act like moving and raising a baby are valid excuses! (hope that is all going well, btw) 1 Ardaedhel reacted to this

(hope that is all going well, btw) Haha... yeah, pretty much that. My spaceships just finally dropped out of hyperspace yesterday. I did manage to meet up with @Armada Jim's crew a couple weeks back, though, which was awesome. Hoping to start getting out to those guys' weekly meetup. And then going to crash @Tirion's SC this weekend in Spokane, so things are looking up! And yeah, I do kind of take more of the slow-roll approach with the GT Avenger build. The biggest problem I run into with that build is losing the AG auto-win objective and having to go for a lesser red. I think I have a good idea for a replacement, but we'll have to see how it plays out in the Vassal tourney... 1 Tirion reacted to this
Englishpete 1,379 Posted August 18, 2017 I like my Avenger/BT ultra aggressive, hence the ISD-I set up, but I can see your point on the ISD-II
