BrobaFett 4,201 Posted August 14, 2017 Nav team is an interesting take on the Arq's, I really like that solution to their nav charts! That said, I am not wholly convinced I would rely on Coms net to provide the tokens. It locks you into an awkward sort of activation order depending on when you spend the tokens and could leave you a little gimped when you needed it most. Still, I really like the idea and if you can fly it well man it could be super fun! Mad Cat 2,113 Posted August 15, 2017 Swap enhanced armament for Needa & TRC. I'm not that keen on nav teams as you probably should be navigating to use the turning. Now you can downgrade to the cheaper Arquitens and put RBDs on the flagship at least. Quad battery turrets on the VSD is a good bet with an extra dice out of both gunnery team front arc shots. Drop advanced gunnery as the VSD can't benefit from it (having GTs) and some Ackbar Defiance or Avenger BT chap will give you the great mace in the face treatment. Most wanted is a better red mission for you. With 2 Lamdas fire lanes can be fun. BrobaFett 4,201 Posted August 15, 2017 All good points above mad cat, but I tried to get arquitens to work for a long time before I decided that I absolutely need a nav command and a c.f. command on the same turn to make them work. I might actually try this with Tarkin, and bank a c.f. token turn one for re roll and then on demand the nav token for nav teams. It is definitely a variation on your theme, but with 4 Arquitens and Tarkin to fuel Nav Teams with those sweet sweet tokens. I figure I would Tarkin CF turn 1 and Nav turn 2, while dialing nav both turns to get my speed and position adjusted and start forming up the battle line. Then keep supplying CF and Nav tokens as needed for extra yaw and red dice rerolls. A squad token on the Goz means he can always activate the 3 token squads Tarkin is expensive, but man in a fleet like this he can be stretched for some really impressive gains. Also, just a note, a Glad-1 with OE, APT, and Demo is exactly the same points as one one of the Arquitens, so it could easily be swapped in for flavor if one wanted. Without engine techs it doesn't benefit as much from Tarkin, but it's got Demo damage output, so if for some reason the Arquitens still don't push the required damage it could be used as a sweeper. I think I will only require each gozanti to provide one nav token so I am not to worried about the forced activation order problem. My squadrons are only a screen and once engaged the gozantis don't need to push the squadrons and can feed other tokens as required. Thanks for all the help inputs! BrobaFett 4,201 Posted August 16, 2017 Hey @Thorinrazer! Just wanted to say that thanks again for the nav team idea. I played my 4 arq tarkin nav team fleet you inspired and it rocked. Tabled a dual vsd, dual goz defender spam list. Most fun I've had flying a ship in a long time! I think you are really onto something with this fleet, as the vsd likes the coms net flotillas too. Thorinrazer 7 Posted August 26, 2017 So I flew this fleet this week and I tabled my opponent but I can't give all of the credit to the fleet. My opponent made a mistake in deployment which allowed me to defeat each ship piecemeal. I only made use of nav teams on 2 occasions so I think I will mod this fleet to the light cruisers, tweak their loading and perhaps tweak the squadrons a bit. General6Kracker 4 Posted August 27, 2017 Great job on your victory, but in my opinion for your squads, if you only want to use them for a screen then I would suggest to switch to just TIE Fighters. If you switch them for the point value of your current squads you could have 8 TIE Fighters to use as defense protecting your ships or offense for your fleet!
