Strong counter to TLT Cheese-fest

Any counter builds to this cheese fest would be much appreciated.

I mean...

Anything with serious damage output? Like, yes, you'll be taking around six damage a turn. But, if this day and age of four and five dice attacks and double mods, losing three attack dice a turn isn't horrible.

But, if you're wanting specific lists, I might go for a snap shot swarm. Send one up to block Kanan - now he doesn't get his Focus action. The rest can follow close behind, pouring snap shot fire into the defenseless ghost, and then their primary shots as well. Once the ghost is down, the list is dead. And, if you are at range one of the Ghost, you can get inside that donut hole and escape much of the more dangerous return fire. The five dice primary is not going go be super reliable if Kanan lacks actions.

 

Alternatively, you could try double TIE/D defenders. Give one a flechette, the other an ion or a T-beam. You'll being damage and control that isn't useless against other lists in a tournament. And, against this list, the Flechette cannon stress and the Ion Cannon Ion token are basically impossible for Kanan to avoid, and do solid work in preventing him from gaining the incremental advantages that he needs to win. Or, you could just double Ion, and have his cruise a slow 1 forward while your defenders stay in his donut hole. As a Bonus, the list has enough points for an Academy Pilot; toss that sucker in there and block Kanan, and if you can double inoose every turn, watch him never move or take an action again.

Flying against Kanan can be brutal and is probably my least favorite thing to do in X-Wing, besides suffering consecutive Kylo Ren blinded pilot conditions ( what a fun over complicated time wasting mechanic!). The real nightmare begins when Kanan brings Biggs as his dancing partner and has Finn on board for 5 dice shots at R2-3 and 6 dice shots at R1....followed by 2 TLT Shots!! 

All that said you can bring Kanan down. Some Tips from a definitely average/bad player: 

1. There is one very specific spot where the VCX is vulnerable.....on the left or right side inside of Range 1. Go there. Bulls eye that womp rat. But don't mess up because when you do you die. 

2. Ships that carry Advanced Sensors can "pre movement" action then bump into Kanan and if you get it right still line up a shot on his wingman. But don't mess up because when you do you die. 

3. It sounds dumb but....just kill Kanan as fast as possible, dont be afraid of him, but also don't mess that up either because if you do you die.

4. Get in close and watch the world burn. The thing that makes Kanan powerful is Biggs. After that the other thing that makes him scary is his offense is just as strong at full health as it is at 1 hull remaining. Kanan is the ultimate countdown clock. If you dont kill him fast enough you lose since your going to take shots pretty much every round you dont bump him. 

5. Try to kill biggs ( or in the list you showed the Hwk/Tie) and then get his health down to half  and then run away until your opponent concedes due to the Negative Play Experience. 

6. Fight NPEs with NPEs and Kylo Blind Kanan. Its fun for you, frustrating for your opponent, and "thematic" since Kanan is actually Blind. Horray beer. 

7. KFC Double Down on NPEs and learn to fly Bumpmasters with Intel Agent. Then show Kanan the edge of the board. But dont stop there. Continue bumping Kanan off the table until the VCX falls on the floor.

8. Taco Bell Boston Market Hybrid Triple Double down on the NPEs and just run Fair Ship Rebels 2. When Kanan shoots you nothing will happen. Your opponent will typically just fly off the board on his own after that.  

9. If its just a casual game and your opponent puts Kanan/Biggs down on the table across from you. Consider just walking away or ask if he is willing to use something thats actually "fun" for both of you. 

10. Ignore 1-9 and just fly a swarm.

That is some cheese. Can't say I've seen that particular build. There are better versions of itself you could beat that with, namely the ones listed above that include Biggs.

But yeah, PS is pretty strong against this build if you can get into the blind spot of the VCX. Anything with repositioning and Autothrusters.

Is that list that strong? Isnt it 0 agility ship with ability to reduce attack dice 3 times a round? Wouldnt 4x Y-wings with TLT rip it apart in 2 rounds?

This! Personally I prefer just 4 M3-A's, but with mindlinks. Biggs in the above list makes it a bit harder, but a challenge is always fun.

The easy way is this

Contracted Scout, ML,EM, chips, Unhinged Astromech, Proton Torps, Boba Fett

Contracted Scout, ML,EM, chips, Plasma Torps

Put 2 Plasma Torps into Kanan and 1 Proton Torp. The Proton Torp secures the crit and with Boba crew you remove the TLT from Kanan - problem solved :)
