Any idea who the designer is? I didn't see it mentioned.

It's on the front of the box, Andrew Fischer and Nathan Hajek.

Andrew Fischer = Designer of Runewars Miniatures Game.
Nathan Hajek = "Creative Content Developer" - no games credited yet, but he did answer rules questions about Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition).

I suppose it's the same deal as with Eldritch Horror: Nathan Hajek is the actual designer and Andrew Fischer just peeks over his shoulder and provides a recognized name for the box cover.

Nathan worked a lot on other games. He designed the Bestial Forces expansion for Win-War, and was deeply involved in Descent 2nd over all those years, co-designing a ton of the expansions. For what's worth, I suppose Andrew worked a lot on this one

That's because he goes under Nathan I Hajek on BGG (link)
