Missing Neutral Dynasty Card...Or Secret?

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the Spoiled Card Lists being maintained by the community, as well as the Learn To Play contents, we now know there are a total of 117 Dynasty Cards in the core set. Per the current numbering, revealed cards, etc. there appears to be a total of 96 Clan Dynasty Cards (apparently including 1 copy each, numbered 25-120) and 21 Neutral Dynasty Cards - including 3x Otomo Courier, Wandering Ronin, Seppun Guardsman, and Miya Mystic, and 2x Favorable Ground and Imperial Storehouse. I think it is safe to assume that the Seeker Initiate and Keeper Initiate are likely both Dynasty Cards, and have 1 copy per core set. However, even if that is the case, that still only gives us 18 Neutral Dynasty Cards (including the multiple copies); also, the google docs sheet for the spoiled card list with images (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SqNVORqa9BYWE2SUSM7kF3wj_7o8RhXllRkd88epCt4/edit#gid=0) suggests cards 121-129 are all Neutral Dynasty Cards. With all the above-mentioned cards counted, that would mean there is likely 1 more unrevealed Neutral Dynasty Card with 3 copies included in the core set...or is there one that I'm missing?

Assuming I'm not missing one here, any speculation what the last card might be?

Are you talking about card #205? It's referenced in the learn to play as Contingency Plan and it appears to change the value of the dial on your honor bid.

Also, I personally find this google doc a bit better as it is easier to navigate for me at least.

Thanks for that. Contingency Plan would be Conflict Card, I was looking at Dynasty Cards. The doc you linked however appears to use a different numbering, specifically it has the last Unicorn Dynasty Card as 121 instead of 120. They also make the assumption of the core set including 2x Keeper Initiate and 2x Seeker Initiate, which if true then that would explain the "missing" cards, as it would mean 2 additional copies of the known Neutral Dynasty cards and 1 more Clan Dynasty Card than the previous spreadsheet I was looking at. I suppose we'll have confirmation soon enough as to whether Shinjo Altarleaver is card# 120 or 121.

I figure #121 is a Unicorn card, because having it neutral would leave Unicorn with 2 fewer cards than each other clan, with the gap in the dynasty deck (which is where it's most impactful). Even having #121 as a Unicorn leaves that clan with 1 fewer card than the other clans (23 total instead of 24).

I think you're probably right, and it would make more sense to have 2 copies of the Keeper/Seeker Initiates included, given all the other Neutral Dynasty Cards have at least 2 copies each. I was going off the spreadsheet I had saved and was checking, the one Danwarr so graciously linked here is, I'm sure, more accurate in terms of card numbering designations.

121 is almost certainly a Unicorn card.

Warrior Poet being 117 means that Unicorn will likely have 1 5 cost, 2 4 cost and 1 3 cost unique. Every other clan has a 3 cost unique, so I see no reason why Unicorn would not.

Since Warrior Poet is non unique, that leaves one spot after it for a unique 3 coster (since uniques are listed after nonuniques, regardless of alphabetical order), then 2 spots for 4 costers, 1 spot for 5 coster, making the first neutral 122.

The Unicorn 3-fate named character is the Utaku battle maiden (Yamino or something like that). She was spoiled on the french ffg website a while ago.

I'm not so sure about your repartition. It would mean that the Unicorn would be the only clan to have no holding. Was it mentioned somewhere?

Not every clan has the same number of characters. Dragon has 1 less than any other revealed clan.

Most clan have 24 cards total between dynasty and conflict. Crab has 15 dynasty and 9 conflict cards (extra holding, fewer events), Dragon has 13 dynasty and 11 conflict cards (extra attachment, fewer characters ), Crane, Lion, Phoenix and Scorpion have 14 dynasty and 10 conflict cards each. But Unicorn has only 13 dynasty and 10 conflict cards (and that's counting #121 as the last Unicorn card).

No, but it would make sense that the nomadic clan would be the one without a holding.

A final point of evidence, and why I have Shinjo Altansarnai as 'confirmed' and not 'speculated' for card #121 is that we actually have an image of a promo of Altansarnai's card (and promo cards FFG has made for all other LCGs share the same card number as from their original sets, which also matches up with Yokuni's here and the Ways of in the other images and the Strongholds):

We can see her card number peeking just off on the corner. And you may call me crazy and spoiler-addled, but that's totally a 121. Or, at least, the middle number is definitely a 2, and the first and third numbers are each either 1's or 7's, and of the four combinations that leaves (121, 127, 721, 727) the only that makes sense is 121 as we already have Wandering Ronin as card 127. (This image is also why I have Shoju marked as confirmed at 107, too.)
