Rey absolutely needs focus tokens.  I'd much rather be at Range 2 of an enemy and have a focus token to modify attack or defense (while rerolling blanks) than be able to sling an extra die at Range 1.  When I was running EU, I mentally kicked myself every time I decided to boost rather than focus.

I was playing Soontir V. Rey once, and the other player kept boosting so I either passed Rey, getting Autothrusters, or bumped.  EDIT: It ended with them conceding because "My dice were hot"  No they weren't!  You played like Garbage, and I got full mods!

My point of Engine on PS10 Rey isn't to roll an extra die, it's to dodge arcs so you don't need CM in the first place, set up blocks or chase someone down.

Fair.  Yeah, they had expertise on Rey, and Soontir was laughing.  It was great.

Some rambles...

This wave is super awesome. I haven't been playing X-Wing long but it genuinely seems like a golden age is upon us. 

Gunboat:

  • Its fun and the slam really makes it "feel" like your reloading and spending ordinance. Swoop, Boom, Reload, Click, Boom! 
  • Spends a ton of time out of combat without stuff to take advantage of the titles
  • Really at the mercy of your approach and path planning if you can't actively slam back into having things in arc. 
  • Lots of figure 8s and fly away u-turns shoot next turn type situations which is a real problem for Linked Battery builds without missiles. 
  • I know part of this is "skill" and herding your opponent but cannon Gunboats without a way to shoot after a slam are super awkward. 
  • Done right the gunboats feel like a constant lingering impending 4 dice threat. 
  • You know its going to come back and turn....and when it does boom! Thats cool from a gameplay feel perspective at least. 
  • The straight HP power creep is helpful and not something I am used to with Imperials especially on an 18 pt PS2.
  • 7 HP is more than enough to get through initial engagements and Vynder is a tanky lil dude. 

Silencer:

  • Holy cow....this thing is insane. 
  • Flying PTL Advanced Sensors Kylo Silencer with Palp anything nearby ideally Yorr.
  • With the title and autothrusters and palp it feels like I am sometimes able to specifically decide if I want to take 1 shield to dish ISTDs. 
  • If you have another or ideally multiple ways to generate crits in your list its very reliable to push PS0s and blinds through the same turn you decide to be in arc of stuff
  • From my initial games PS11 Aces are genuinely scared of a properly flown PS9 Kylo. The "you don't have to move last to win" comments are real.  
  • It doesnt really even take much skill with a 1 hard turn or 2 hard turn.
  • It feels alot like how Star Vipers can keep higher PS stuff in arc with that bananas barrel roll allowing for mobile arc style pivots moves. 

Phantom II:

  • I saw a Coordinated TLT Kanan Jarrus build with FCS, Countermeasures + 2 Focus Tokens, & 2 Evade Tokens every turn & a Draw Their Fire Lowhrick Re-Enforcer.
  • FAA X-Wings trying to destroy it looked like this...

Kimogilia:

  • Only tried this out so far against the Kylo Silencer. 
  • Its fun and with Barrel Roll at PS10 not terribly difficult to line up bullseyes on big bases at least
  • Only issue it seems like there are alot of ships that don't really need tokens to begin with. 
  • Might fall into the same category as Soontir or Corran were if it were better it would probably be broken?

So, what’s the correct answer to “which tech is best on a Silencer if I’m running PTL?”

 For systems, AS > FCS? Do I still need AS if using Threat Tracker?  

With work and kids I’ve got time to practice a list well before Chicago Regional, but not enough time to run multiple builds and variations

If you don’t have time to test, primed thrusters seems the best option. Insurance against Asajj and r3-a2 seems solid, unless you come up with something better.

I've been running Pattern Analyzer and it's really cool to have the option to PTL before or after moving. Gives the ship a lot of flexibility. Of course the first game I played was against a Rebel Captive Oicunn so that made me very sad.

While Pattern Analyzer is mechanically the best, I think in a stress meta Primed Thrusters is the best option.
