Expecting boba to actually get nerfed feels like a hot take

That said, haven't ships as widespread as Boba often gotten nerfs?

Boba and Whisper and Redline did in the first adjustment.  Boba was partly indirect through the Han Gunner nerf, but still.

Once Anakin was out, he got one of the first Jedi nerfs, and we saw Wedge and Braylen and Cassian take hits.  Wasn't that also when Han got the illicit slot nerf?

Last major adjustment, we saw Obi-Wan take a bit of a dip.  He was pretty much the only ace, but it felt like Aces mostly got left alone as part of a Hyperspace experiment.

Maybe my timeline is a bit off, but this seems like it's often happened.

Just not as good as it used to be.  I think, in a lot of ways, that's enough.

I doubt Boba will get a nerf equivalent to finding a new definition of pain and suffering as he is slowly digested over a thousand years (no regrets on the gifs, tho), but even small tweaks help.

Idk, just seems like all the stuff that “got nerfed” in past is still really good

A lot of stuff, true, but not, for example, quad juke phantoms, triple upsilon, quadjumpers, han Gunner, dash roark, etc.

I hope so. +3 pt to Vader means little in a lot of loadouts, but is big when bunched with the other I6 and a massive bid. I'm enjoying Maarek at his current 46, but dropping him to Resistance A Wing levels of cheap obscenities is beautiful. Also, 38 pt Ved seems viable.

58 pt for Soontir might be overboard, but Soontir's bids are overboard, so I'm cool with it. Also, with the ability to token stack if caught/still getting focused if blocked, he's still difficult to kill. Plus, the higher cost lets him point fortress if gilled out, so everyone wins. Soontir + gang of support that got cheaper looks strong. Turr actually being worth his cost/not a quarter of a list with Snapshot looks exciting. Drop Wampa way way down if Alpha will be this low.

Slightly pricier Inquisitor seems right with missiles making them situational 3/3's with token stacks: aka, situational TIE Defenders. Since 5th bro is an "alt" version of 7th sister, but good, it's proper that he costs more. Grand Inky at 60 doesn't seem right. Yeah, he's a damage sink and can hit decently hard, but he's not worth 2 pt more than Soontir (who essentially is also a force user when flown right, but in exchange for 1hp and the sensor slot gets 2 mod slots, a better talent slot, a better dial, better linked actions, and the ability to chuck 4 reds). The 55ish range might be a start.

These buffs seem excessive to me.

Alphas are fine where they are.  They're Strikers.  Not the most exciting, but good enough.  But I guess old perceptions die hard.

TIE/x1 don't need this much of a buff.  Just before COVID, weren't we seeing some strong early tourney results with like quad x1?  Mathematically, they've just got a lot going for them.  5-6 point buffs on their aces is pretty excessive, and I don't necessarily think their generics need 2-3 point buffs.  -1 generics, -2 aces, done.

Nerfs pretty much fine (I'd only bring TGI to the same 58 as Soontir, but still).

Lets say Burners goes up +3 pts at i6 and Passive Sensors becomes 10 pts at i6 or something.

  • Vader 70 + Burners 9 + FCS 2 = 81
  • Soontir 58 + Predator 2 = 60
  • GI = 60
  • Total = 201

Seems real close to where things should be.

Seems like Hyperspace accomplished a decrease in Init 6, an increase in low init things, and a general shrinking of the bid.  Downside?  Boba.

Init 2 as a big loser is kind of striking to me (hi, 40 point blue escort), and I don't necessarily know why.  Probably U-Wings.  Yeah.  It's surely U-Wings.

Well, maybe also Some. Number. Cartel. Marauders.

actually, at this point, the current season has more extended lists than hyperspace!

What is it?

Do you count a list of 8x i1 as one or eight events? What about a list with 3x i1 and 1x i6?

Initiatives are among the most tricky things to measure and three pictures that show me what I want to see are especially dangerous.

total of all points spent by the init of the pilots they're spent on
ex: Kylo w/ SnR and 4x Epsilon Cadets would score as 100 points on i5, 100 points spent on i1

A large part of that is Hyperspace. No Wedge, Soontir, Quickdraw, Anakin, and Sun Face.

I think this data is much more extended than hyperspace actually!

either way I think i6 should be relatively rare, if everything's i6 we start to get into the whole bid war thing that first edition suffered from. Moving first with aces is fun.

1st edition Blackout was trash. Even when packing a TIE/sh with Kylo on board to reduce people to PS0, he was bad.

2nd edition Blackout is great. Lucasz Golanti (IIRC the name right) made finals of the Bavarian SOS using Brolencers + Midnight. Just last weekend Cody Wood went 6-0 in Swiss and Top 4 in Space Jam using Triple Silencers (Brolencers + Jim). IIRC, the latest UK SOS saw Blackout + 2 FOTP's make cut. These top players demonstrate that I5 6HP interceptors can be wielded to great effectivity, with an ability that discourages hiding behind obstacles and the tech slot + a wider selection than most of viable talents.

I will persist in defending him because I won my first set of dice with him (along with Midnight and Tavson) and I also had my only win against Oli with him. You could say that my devotion is...

To be completely honest, his greatest flaw is the same in First Edition: for a mere few points more, you can get Kylo. Fortunately, due to turret/bomb/munition/talent etc. changes, his buff to I5 means that taking him with Kylo can often be viable.

I will defend blackout as well. However I'll defend that he's only a tanky ps5 interceptor, that can get free offensive mods (fanatical).

His ability is usually a trap or tech vs droids.

BO vs Kylo is no contest at 13 points. Free calculates every round is that good.

Funfact:

Generally BO averages more damage not shooting through a gas cloud than through one. Exceptions are 2 -> 1 with focus and 1 -> 0
