[MAFIA] Death on the Independent Station - Day 5

Recommended Posts

Right. So, I'm aware of people's desire to pass the day without voting, and on any other day I would have agreed. However, I have an issue - I don't expect to live out the night.

As such, I feel the need to hammer somebody, in the hopes of that person being the scum. I am at the moment torn between Mad and JJ. I have a slight suspicion of Gink, but Oni appears to confirm his story, so he's lower down on my list.

Now, out of JJ and Mad, Mad has a night action, but hasn't hit the correct targets. JJ has no action, and for somebody who needs to lynch somebody to win seems to have been oddly negligent of his duties. . . hypothetically, he'd vote every time, regardless of appearance, to ensure that he's on the lynch train should the target actually be scum. That means that when it was clear that Pod seemed to be the town's choice day 1, he should have switched votes. He didn't, IIRC. . .

So he seems largely suspicious. He is currently voting the'watcher' - the only person who can point out a scum after a night kill, other than Gink. If he desires to catch a scum, he would have to know who they are. He appears to be asking Gink to investigate him, which means that Mad is the only person who could ID a scum after a kill. That means that he happens to be voting for the one person who would make fulfilling his win con easier. That's really weird, and prompts me to

##vote JJ

so as to spark further discussion.

The only thing weirding me out is that we're not sure how many threats to town are left. The evidence against JJ is stacking up a bit. His claim also seems the easy to fake, as it's very simple in concept. I'd say if there's a single enemy left, then he is the prime suspect. In the off chance there are two, my gut says that Gink and Onid are playing us hard. All that said, I'm not too enthused to scumhunt today because as stated before, I'm in the group where succeeding now would be tantamount to forfeiting.

Sorry Gnips, if we make it, we'll make a real nice commemorative plaque for you and put it up in the station office.

EASIEST to fake I mean

Another thing: Why wouldn't JJ want to vote nolynch? Too much of a scumtell? He's far from a prime night target assuming he's telling the truth, wouldn't it be easier for him to find the culprit tomorrow? We have two reveals in play (unless I'm mistaken about the nature of Gink's item) and while he's suspicious of both, if one of them dies the other one becomes a juicy suspect. Or are we just cutting it too close and town will have no chance tomorrow to catch the mafioso? These are genuine questions, I'm not too experienced with mafia strats

@Bike - Its never a good idea for town to no lynch. Whereas for 3rd party its not as important. With the ratio's in this game, its much harder for town, aka GNips, to keep pressure up with the threat of lynch, which explains why Biggs gave him a hammer. My personal feeling is that this is the day for GNips to follow through on his threat.

I dont get JJ's play at all really, and I'm not going to respond to his taunt.

With regards to Onid, can you imagine what he would do with his multiple kill weapons if he couldnt achieve his win condition? It seems I am the only one able to/willing to help him achieve his goal. Keeps him on our side thats all.

Whilst were on the subject, what on earth did you give to Ovi Onid? You seem to have quite the arsenal of items there. Pirate Radio!! Why didnt I get offered that!

I gave ovi red spice.

Honestly, I forgot about it.  And I wanted to get the scanner into hands where it could help other people meet their win cons.  If you want it,  I'll trade the radio tonight die some of your power packs

The reason I didn't bandwagon is due to the fact that I need to eliminate a threat to the town to win. I was very certain Pod was not that, and so killing him wasn't something I was interested in...just like the no vote is something Oni and Bike want today. As for the Truthi train...well I just straight up missed that one due to the early hammer.

Like I said previously, Mad's "ability" has no way to verify me, since I don't have a night action to visit anyone, while Gink's scanner would do that.

It's rather ironic GNiPs voting for the very bounty hunter he hired thematically. Guess you weren't let in on that in your PM.

At this point, I'd go Mad or Gink, depending on if GNiPs wants to hammer one of those. I'd like to obviously be in on this lynching.

More pointed? I'd like to refer everyone to Podracer, and my part of said discussion.

I think you slipped when you suggested those who need another night could fill their win condition after hammering me. Because if you really thought I was scum, and you weren't, you wouldn't know that killing me would keep the game going. But I'm pretty well convinced at this point you are, and so you do know.

All that keeps me from putting a vote on you is that I need to guess your kill. (Not me please)

I already pointed out I'm genuinely concerned we have two scum, so its very clear the game would go on in that case. I've been guessing scum numbers long before the "post" you try to use to **** me.

I thought there were three at jump also, but I think all the one shot kills, and the fact that Visovics, for example, booked upon filling his contract means there might only be two, given there is only one

town in the game, have caused me to question my original assessment. Look at this late game situation here! Its actually in the best interests of half the game to push a no lynch! I think three scum working together would have been problematic.

Although, granted, biggs did say it wasnt balanced, so I can't discount the possibility.

But thats all I can do, is work within the framwork of possibility. You seem very sure.

Well with only indications of two scum kill abilities, and Cal a serial killer, we must be only dealing with one kill remaining in the game. Its just whether its a mafia group or another serial killer. Thematically in the game it makes sense to have a second self aligned serial killer rather than a mafia group. Add on to that the abilities a mafia duo would have, roleblocker/redirector etc, and the lack of evidence that roles have been messed with. So it seems likely we are dealing with a single serial killer rather than a mafia duo.

A cultist would be at three by now as no one has flipped as cult, so that cant be possible at this point.

It's not a given that the scum would have abilities. It's entirely possible that they are goons.

A goon would be exactly the same in effect as a serial killer.

A goon in a role bonanza game? Thats not likely.

Why not? Biggs did say it was unbalanced. I still think there must be a scum of some sort, as opposed to an self-aligned killer.

. . . @JJs Juggernaut, @Madaghmire - what was the wording of your win con?

Unbalanced does not mean vanilla goons though.

Truthiness' Idiot unbalances the game as you cant balance for that. Same as the odds of two Serial Killers targetting each other. Blimey everyone could have targetted CNinja night 1 and half the game would have died.

You put vanilla goons in to make it balanced! They are used when you need the extra numbers but not utility. Biggs has clearly stated that he was trying to make it fun rather than balanced. Vanilla goons are not put in for fun reasons, but balance reasons.

OK then. I'll take your word for it.

6 players capable of voting = 4 to hammer:

  1. @GhostofNobodyInParticular -

  3. @Ginkapo - JJs Juggernaut
  4. @Onidsen -
  5. @Bike Stunts -
  6. @JJs Juggernaut - (2) - Ginkapo, Onidsen, GhostofNobodyInParticular
  7. No Lynch - (3) - Onidsen, Bike Stunts, Madaghmire,

Less than 24 hours to go, as Gink stated.

I've used the wording before now.... I win if I manage to vote and lynch a threat to the town, and survive until the end of the game.

How else am I going to get paid?

Mad just screams suspicious to me right now. All his posts of late are just "off".

It's all up to GNiPs now.

Also the fact that Gink hasn't voted for the no lynch despite it being L-1 is very interesting. Two scum is still a possibility as a no lynch isn't a win for them, but I doubt two scum wouldn't jump on the train and buy more time to eliminate another player. Also, I haven't jumped on that train either, which further lends credence to my claim.

First of all, I'm the only one not claiming to be in some kind of interaction tonight.

But I suppose that ends now.

I'm a self-aligned Information Broker. Which is to say, I'm a self aligned watcher. My win condition is to witness a kill and then be a part of lynching the killer.

I think you can see why I didn't want to claim, and what I meant by how it indirectly conflicts with certain others' win conditions. (Like say, anyone who has to survive)

Since theres no point in with-holding information anymore, I'll let you have this for free. First night I watch Thetoad, because as hammering vote I thought he made a safe scum target. Sadly, I'm not a tracker.

Maybe this can help regarding Oni's post.

Thats it right there. Its actually a little more open then JJ's alleged condition, in that I can witness any kill and lynch the perpetrator of said kill to fulfill it. I'm back in for the night so I'm available the rest of the evening. Tomorrow I wont be available until pretty late in the day, so if you have any more questions for me let me know.
