Are you sure? Is it scheduled on GMT or British Summer Time?

@Irishmadcat

Well. It seemed clear to me he was talking about his current local time, but looking back at the messages he did mention GMT... I'm assuming that was a slip, but I'll let him clear things up.

(Also, my bad for calling it UK time, wasn't thinking. Apologies to @Irishmadcat and his noble country – @Green Knight, feel free to issue me some sort of penalty for cultural ignorance.)

We switch to summer time on the same days, so Finland is always two hours behind Ireland and the UK.

Visovics vs. @Rearadmiralsdoitinspace is finished!!

80-262, MoV of 182 to Admiral, 8-3

We played my Station assault, I pulled both in between my ships at speed 1, admiral deployed all ships at speed 0 in G7, unfortunately Raymus and comms nets helped both Home One and Endeavour to their feet, quickly to pick up the pace, as the turns went, some aggressive shots from both MC80s resulted in the loss of an Interdictor and a Vic from Motti, and the flagship was alive by 1 hull, no shields. Repair oriented MC80 lists are scarrier than they look people! In the end, the MC80 ended with 2 hull only, no ships dead for admiral, and Gamma, jumpmaster and Mareek dead from triple flak from flotillas. The good thing is: both stations alive saved me from a 9-2.

RealAdmiral was a great opponent to play against, and thankfully he was nice enough to continue later after some problems with my internet. That was a very fun game to play:

Concur with @Visovics - Fun game to play, and he's a top chap all round. Should add, he had some pretty horrific dice mid-way through, whereas the gunnery stations on my transports were clearly crewed by dead-shot Jedi masters - the force was with my black dice!

Lesson learned - don't be greedy when faced with a marginal shot at a hull four Dic or a double arc on a defenceless station! (Oh, and don't trust BT with your internet provision if you're in the UK)

So I meant GMT as that would be easier to google. If it works better I can do 6:30 gmt which is 7:30 Ireland time :)

Technically there was such as thing as Irish time but that as an offset of like 38 minutes or something not helpful.

Right, yeah, makes sense. I shouldn't have assumed. :)

Let's keep it what it was: 7:30 GMT, 8:30 Ireland time, 10:30 Finland time.

So, @Green Knight, I have a question. I am curious how I'm playing Biggs instead of JJ?

Wouldn't the higher of the 6's go up a bracket? I'm still trying to learn the wacky ways of the tourney software.....

Tourney Regs v2.2 Pairings, Swiss Rounds:

"For the first round of Swiss pairings, players are matched randomly against an opponent. For each round after the first, players are paired at random against another player with the same number of tournament points."

What ard says. It's random when pts are equal - not in strict order.

342 to 243 win to Irishmadcat

Very close game with both nippy fast ships. We went with openign salvo. Great opponenet abd a very tense and fun match. 2 hammerheads were at speed 0 when they destroyed ships and other such wackyness.

Doobleg vs mhd concludes with mhd (aka MikeD) winning 422-36.

MikeD took 1st player and chose Most Wanted. His fleet consisted of six Raiders, sporting an equal mix of long-range and face-punching mods. I had a Sloane swarm with Interdictor and Demolisher.

I really should have written this up while my defeat was still fresh in my mind, but the pivotal moment came when Demolisher made its approach on the lead, wounded Raider - Sloane had already taken its Brace and an Interdictor-caused collision had reduced it to three hull. Demo moved in and was juuuuuust out of close range for a killing broadside. Of course, this put Demo in close range of the Raider's front arc, and, well, last/first activation gave MikeD the crucial kill.

After that, MikeD was basically mopping up (although this phrasing doesn't do justice to just how well he flew the Raiders - it's hard to be mad at your opponent when he clearly knows what he's doing  ). My last Gozanti went down in the final round, and my squadrons ran on home to Momma.

Victory to MikeD!

This game was a lot of fun, and MikeD was a very gracious and relaxed opponent, the kind of player everyone wants to face across the table. Cheers, Mike! :D

Log-file is here.

The game between @Doppelganger and myself has concluded in a 251-178 MOV 73 7-4 win to me. We played my Contested Outpost.

It was a close game, with it coming down to 1 die roll in the end, which would have swung it his way. He forgot that the Station didn't obstruct, and so brought his Raider into range of my ISD. A double arc of rear+side at close range got 1 damage short of killing it, when he pulled a structural damage card, and boom went the Raider. Then, he just barely failed to kill my GSD - it was on 2 health, and his GSD front arc's red dice and 2 TIEs only managed to get 1 damage total on the shieldless hulk, which was evaded. By an unlucky maneuver, he was out of range of the station at the end of turn 6, and so missed getting the final token.

At first, I thought it likely that I would lose, for 1 GSD was killed before it could fire a shot, and another died before it could do anything effective. However, I think what aided in swinging the game in my favor (other than getting 5 tokens) was that during turn 4, I managed to bring the Gozanti down to 1 hull through ramming, and a Raider down to 1 through shooting at it during the ISD's activation. The Raider was at close range of the front arc of one GSD, which when it moved would ram the Gozanti. He chose to activate other ships before these two, and I managed to kill both in the same activation. Had he activated the Raider first, I feel that the GSD wouldn't have survived the game (for he would have shot at it), and the Raider itself may even have survived.

All in all it was a very fun game, and Doppelganger was a fun opponent. Given that this was only his 4th game of Armada ever, both in RL and on Vassal, I believe that he will become a pretty good player, given his level of play in this match. Granted, I'm not good enough myself to claim to be a judge, but he played well, and but for that 1 activation would have one the game, and could have won it regardless.
