Nerdmeister 144 Posted February 7, 2010 Just bought doom and have been running a few test games. A couple of issues sprung up (besides the fact the marines died too fast using the core rules ) 1) The hell knight has the "knock back" ability which enables him to move a figure 3 spaces upon hitting him, even through occupied spaces (and spaces with obstacles?) as long as the figure ends in an empty space. Is it possible for the hell knight to use knock-back to hit a figure through his own space to the other side of himself? 2) Alot of the monsters have ranged attacks but does that mean they can´t use their attack for a melee assault? Thematically the monsters in the computer game have ranged attacks but if you get too close they will hit you instead. (The main issue at the moment is that if they can attack melee they will not need to roll and range on their attack dice Any insights/thoughts will be appreciated
RedMageStatscowski 117 Posted February 7, 2010 1) Yes, it's possible. Just imagine the Hell Knight picking up the marine, turning around and then just crushing the marine on the floor on the other side. 2) They still have to 'range', so if they're a ranger, they'll have to roll at least a 1 range, unlike melee invaders like zombies that can ignore range. Welcome to your DOOM. Have a nice kill-streak while you're here.
shnar 52 Posted February 7, 2010 As for Range or not, remember that every marine has a Fist, which rolls one red die and uses no ammo. Very handy for the weaker monsters (like Trites) or if you have any special abilities (like Special Ops). -shnar
