Kyle Ren 6,817 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Seriously considering ordering the Saga Set, but I just enjoy trading so much! It's one of my favorite parts of the game! Although I don't know how they even make money on those Saga Sets, they're such a good deal! Edited July 19, 2017 by Kieransi

They probably break about even with the sets, but with the insane amount of extra product from the set boxes they sell singles and make all their money there. 1 Kyle Ren reacted to this
RookiePilot 636 Posted July 19, 2017 Don't forget, they're not paying MSRP for the boxes they open. Some vendors sell boxes, they sell opened and collated boxes.
Joelist 148 Posted July 20, 2017 They sent separate emails for Booster Boxes and Saga Sets. And their booster boxes are virgin not opened and such. TC is a standup operation.

I gather the Saga Sets are breakeven and they make their money on boxes, singles and stuff like sleeves and tokens. I also subscribed to Legend of the Five Rings through TC. Kyle Ren 6,817 Posted September 13, 2017 Well, looks like Team Covenant just flat out won't ever be offering EaW preorders for booster boxes. I've been on their email waitlist, checking the website every few days, and looks like the official release date will hit tomorrow with me still having no product ordered from TC. Good thing local game stores are a thing. https://teamcovenant.com/product/empire-at-war-booster-box-display-case-gravity-feed
Mep 2,291 Posted September 14, 2017 The supply problems aren't a problem so it is best you just get your boxes from your local store, unless of course you live in Tulsa.
Amanal 2,557 Posted September 14, 2017 My FLGS posted this on facebook just after the store closed at 10:30 last night. They have now opened and are removing boxes from the pyramid on display. I pushed for a Midnight opening, I Mean who needs sleep when there is Destiny on sale? 1 Strom reacted to this
RookiePilot 636 Posted September 19, 2017 Team Covenant just sent out an email about their Saga Sets for Empire at War. It appears that everything is going smoothly and the first third of the wave 1 orders have already been shipped. They expect to be ahead of schedule on completing these orders and things are looking promising for wave 2 orders as well. This certainly is a better situation than with Spirit of Rebellion sets. Mep 2,291 Posted September 20, 2017 In all fairness, they do have to open a lot of boxes and sort a lot of cards to put those sets together. 1 MegaSilver reacted to this
Joelist 148 Posted September 20, 2017 I also got the Saga Set email and was happy to see it. When you work it out the price is a bargain for what a Saga Set contains. 1 x each legendary card (Hero, Villain, and Neutral, dice included) 2 x each rare, uncommon, and common card (Hero, Villain and Neutral, dice included)
Mep 2,291 Posted September 21, 2017 It's basically 3 boxes worth of cards, minus the trading to get just two of everything but Legendaries. After the labor costs I am not sure how they break even on this. I am just going to buy the singles I want from EaW and see if I come in under $300, otherwise the saga set might be the wise choice for the next set. Joelist 148 Posted September 21, 2017 Is it really just three boxes though? It has every Lengendary and two of everything else. All for the price of three boxes (actually a bit less than the price for three).
Kyle Ren 6,817 Posted September 21, 2017 Technically, a Saga Set for Empire at War is 17 legendaries, 86 rares, 86 uncommons, and 114 commons. Three boxes is 18 legendaries, 90 rares, 108 uncommons, and 324 commons. So they’re about even, the question is what does TC want all those extra commons for? Also, the price is about the same where I am - my local stores sell boxes for $95 now.
Joelist 148 Posted September 21, 2017 You have to factor in the absence of the luck factor - there is no guarantee at all your three boxes will yield the correct cards to match the Saga Set - in fact the odds probably do not favor it. That after all is the appeal of the Saga Set - it in essence makes Destiny a LCG instead of a CCG.
Kyle Ren 6,817 Posted September 21, 2017 I agree. I do the boxes because I actually enjoy trading - I find it very fun to collect all the cards one by one through shrewd deals! Not everyone feels the same way, so I think the Saga Sets are a great deal for those folks. They’re also nice if you don’t have the time to bother with opening, sorting, and trading all those packs. RookiePilot 636 Posted October 3, 2017 As a follow-up, my Saga sets arrived last Friday. While EAW had been out for a few weeks by that point, it is very nice to have a complete set now. Team Covennat did a great job of organizing and shipping, I would reccomend them to anyone considering going this route. Just get your oredr in early, as they process them in the order they are received and there was evidently about one order placed every six seconds after the EAW Saga sets were initially made available for the first hour. Every second counts!
Joelist 148 Posted October 3, 2017 Agreed. My Saga Set arrived yesterday. Marvelously packed (everything padded like they are precious jewels) and organized neatly by color and by side. TC did A GREAT job on this!
