Amanal 2,557 Posted July 14, 2017 In all my years of playing games it isn't the moderate deck that catches you out it is the crazy deck that takes a game mechanic to an extreme. Can you take FN to an extreme?

Can you take FN to an extreme? Depends if you think FN singlehandedly doing 9 damage turn 1 in the final of a major event extreme? Yes Unkar is an enabler, but its far from magical Christmas land as well.

Can you take FN to an extreme? Don't you think overwriting several weapons a turn to get to roll and then resolve the die before your opponent can do anything about it is kind of extreme (and he can do this while exhausted or readied)? And one that gets better as more weapons are added. 1 Amanal reacted to this

That was crazy odds, FN just got extremely lucky, I think this deck takes Unkar to the extreme and uses that to play into FN for as long as possible. AlexW has the idea of what happens when you take FN to the extreme.
Joelist 148 Posted July 14, 2017 (edited) How is FN chaining actions? His power specifically says when you play a weapon on him you roll it and if possible can resolve it. It doesn't grant him a second action. Add in that you can only have two of each card in your deck and your hand only has five cards and this has limits. And it REALLY needs you not to get milled in part because you are milling yourself in doing FNs ability. Essentially the only way he action chains is with Ambush weapons, and there as stated above are limits on how many you will have. Essentially the only way he action chains is with Ambush weapons, and there as stated above are limits on how many you will have. I play FN as my main deck (Got 6 deck, 5 tournaments, 1 worse than casual, used to show the game to new player). There is actually "maybe a situation" with this character. Yes he need to be a little bit lucky to achieve unthinkable results, but most of the time, with regular results, he seem very strong (Not OP at this time i'll say, but near) here is some hint why: -11 hp for a 10 points character. -The concept, is of course to play weapons, but in wich orders? ***1-Be sure to screen initial hand for weapons (2$ or less) with 1 ressources on it (Holdout blaster, vribo., Etc.) when starting the game. ***2-Use your initial $ to play a weapon on FN. Roll, then resolve. Mathematically speaking, usualy you will have 2 weapon costing 2$ or less, so play those first. ***3-If you resolved a ressource, then switch to 3$ upgrade and swap your 2$ upgrade (Average of 2 per initial hand)... Vibroknuckers on turn 1 for example. Resolve using fn or course... Repeat until no more weapon in hand. 4-At this point, FN rolled 4 weapon dice... and has yet to activate... Résumé of % (%are estimate and rough, just to give idea, eventually, someone could recalculate more precisely): -50% FN will, with his upgrade, roll a ressource on turn 1 (Including himself) -Average damage (For this purpose, damage side with a ressource cost is considered 0) FN and his upgrade will generate on turn 1 IF he has that extra 1 ressource (0 reroll, except riot control baton): 6 Damage -I played several version of FN, but i prefer FN/IG-88. So considering IG-88 %: 3% / 6 damage, 11% / at least 4 damage, 66% at least 2. Adding the 6 damage average, i can usually (66% * 50% = 33%) 33% of time deal 8 damage on turn one (Could kill maz on turn 1, but innever did, always aimed for poe first). -Statistically speaking I never lost to a Poe Maz ("never" should be taken lightly, only around 10 match vs Poe/maz) -My deck consist of 21 upgrades and 9 other decoy cards. -Best case scenario... FN can deal 10 damage With IG-88 at 6 for a total of 16 but mathematically its like below 1% chance. -Drawbacks: -This deck is costly in terms of RL$, I didn't pay for 70% of cards, but if you want to assemble something like this, it cost around 200$+ -Vulnerable against turn 1 disrupt. (Snap + ambush) -Even though it is %strong, bad luck will negate all your efforts AND you lost all your hand trying to do something that never happened. That is why i play with fn, I love the unkar version, but the bad luck % rise a little bit. -I prefer to play against tournament deck... it is way too radical to show the game to a new player. ***Legal notice: 1-Opponents not taken in account. Of course he or she can discard stuff from my hands, discrupt my money, remove my dices... 2-My english is below average, I write / speak in french usually. Sorry in advance. HoodieDM 320 Posted July 14, 2017 15 hours ago, Joelist said: I'm not seeing FN as being some sort of unlimited action cheat - his ability is not free and is basically a limited, built in Fast Hands. You specifically have to play a weapon on him to activate it and it lets you roll in THAT weapon and resolve. I suppose in theory you could play one weapon after another on him and keep overwriting - of course the moment you hit a side you can't resolve (blank or a resource cost side you can't pay for) it's over. I always figured his best use was to roll in the weapon before activating him. Resolve that die then roll him in so the weapon gets to fire again. Plutt can be a real pain in mill mode so long as your deck features getting a lot of dice out there to get multiple combinations of 3 or more, otherwise he is worse than useless. Right now I am tuning my eJyn-Maz mill deck. In teresting thing is so far the Maz ability is not coming into play a lot (because I think I have been lucky and gotten a Fast Hands on Jyn quickly). I was speculating about eJyn-Padme but I think I'm sticking with Maz as she has two focus sides (and when she gets her Goggles it gets better still) so she hopefully gets a focus, uses it to focus Jyn correctly and the mill goes on. Joelist, it's not just that though. It's that they can IMMEDIATELY resolve it. I'd be okay if you got to roll it in and that's it. You have to spend another action to resolve it, but he can literally resolve it immediately no matter what (unless you get a blank/modify side). So that's where I have a problem. It's such a powerful ability to basically get at least one additional roll without ever giving my opponent the chance to react. That's crazily good. And as stated, you only need to get a 2-3 upgrade on him and then every upgrade is "free" unless it somehow gets taken away before the next one is overlayed. Again I'd be more fine if it just allowed you to roll into play, but resolve it immediately takes it to the extreme. ~D
