KingOfOdonata 57 Posted June 22, 2017 So, I got one booster box and was overall disappointed. The legendaries I got were decent of course, but most of the rares were junk. I got at least one of almost all of the starters rares (two Rey's Staff actually), so I have at least 6 cards out of my 36 that were pointless and worthless. The box wasn't paid for, and they didn't ask me to put money on a card to do so. I did it so that I'd have the money when the time came and didn't spend it on other stuff. Oh, yeah... my local stores are like that too, they give me the same condescending speech about how FFG actually has supply issues, and they don't know anything about when there'll be a restock, whether there'll even be more stock, etcetera. I'm not sure why their speeches annoy me - maybe I'm not doing a great job explaining why it bugs me. I guess it annoys me because they treat me like a poor, innocent child who doesn't know anything about the way real businesses work, when in actuality I know more than they do about this because every game store I've tried to buy Destiny from in the last year has given me the same speech. It's made me stop even trying to buy Destiny at my local stores, because I get so annoyed at the employees' condescending speeches and weird business decisions. Most likely they think that if they limit stock like that they'll be remembered as "the store that has Destiny stock" and attract more business later if/when they get more stock, but now I just remember them as "the store that never sells me Destiny because they're playing power games, and gives me an annoying speech any time I even ask." I understand having some limit - otherwise someone will just buy all of their stock day one and sell it on eBay. But 3 packs per person per day? That's ludicrous. I like buying a whole box so that I'm guaranteed a good number of legendaries, because I've heard that the boxes are easy to tamper with (remove all the legendaries since they're in a predictable spot). Maybe I should call up 11 of my friends who don't play Destiny and have them all go in with me and we'll buy a whole box! I do think it's nice that they hold aside some stock for participation prizes at the weekly tournaments though. It's nice to get some random cards at the end of the night, especially since I've now drawn a legendary three weeks in a row! I understand the concept of making sure everyone has stuff so they can play, and limiting packs for the first run of a set (if you get allocated) makes perfect sense, but reprints and secondary waves shouldn't be limited because most players have already gotten their crap and those of us who need packs have next to nothing. I understand allocations. I get it, Distributors are kinda assholes when it comes to this ****. But yer right, this stuff doesn't drive us to want to buy from stores, it drives us to buy from guaranteed stock from online retailers. I think the biggest problem is still the lack of cards to go around. To get a decent-sized collection and all the good cards you need to build several decks, I think you need at least two boxes from each wave, and I just don't think FFG is at all prepared for people to buy that much. I'm not sure what they expected! 15 or so boxes per store per quarter is nowhere near enough for a CCG set in one of the most popular fantasy universes ever, manufactured by one of the most beloved and well-respected makers of games for said universe! Oh well. I guess it's a sign that the game is popular, since there's so many people buying all this stuff up! I like that, because it means there's plenty of people to play with! I'll get off my soapbox now, because I don't want to hijack Stone37's thread any further! Even the distributor knows this (and how to profit from it). A product that was suppose to have a lot of supply all of a sudden doesn't. Last week i bought around 6 with no problem, not order just on the fly. And even now when they are slowly running dry they are still avaiable. kingbobb 159 Posted June 23, 2017 One box...our store got enough to give all pre-orders one box (we only ordered one) but folks that wanted more have to wait to see if there's a second release. First pack opened was Crime Lord, with Jabba, Han, Falcon, OWTF, and Kylo's Saber rounding out the rares. Crime Lord and Jabba are new for me, was my third Falcon, and my second Han/Kylo's Saber/OWTF, so pretty happy with the Legendaries. We got 1 Holdout and 1 DH-17, plus a couple other Rares that I wanted...Scout, Survival Gear, Jango, Nightsister. Things that filled gaps in my collection or expanded my play set. Only 1 each of BB/Staff, so not much chaff in the set. Scored 2 Second Chances (making 3 for my set) and Prized Possession (making 2). No Electroshocks, though. Overall happy with the box, and don't see any real benefit to buying more from Awakenings in booster format. Han Falcon Black One Commanding Presence Got 2x Bala-Tik's when I already had 2, plus 2nd and 3rd copy of Dooku. One DL-44 I was looking for. Hopefully 2nd box has some Holdouts and Thermal Det's.
