PbP Concept

I'm interested in hosting a (hopefully) short PbP Force and Destiny. I know I've tried this before, and my record is shot to Sugar, Honey and Iced Tea, but I'm approaching this as a test run of sorts.

I'd like to attempt a jidai geki/wuxia-style game. If you don't know what those terms are, jidai geki refers to historical Japanese films (and a significant influence on George Lucas), often simple called 'samurai films.' Examples include The Hidden Fortress, Seven Samurai, and 13 Assassins. Wuxia (literally "martial arts chivalry" or "martial arts heroes"), historical Chinese martial arts films. Examples include Once Upon a Time in China and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Star Wars is very similar to wuxia in many ways.

So, looking for six players, Force and Destiny careers only, one PC for each career. All PCs must be Force-sensitive. The game and PCs will be gray to light side; moral ambiguity is acceptable, but most PCs should be good generally good guys. Tone will be PC-13ish.

Not all characters necessarily have to focus entirely on combat, but keep in mind the genre and decide accordingly.

Game will also be Knight level, with some adjustments. If choosing a lightsaber, may choose any lightsaber hilt type with the exception of the double-bladed lightsaber and the Temple Guard lightsaber pike. May select any crystal to power the lightsaber, with the following exceptions: Krayt dragon pearl, Mephite, Sapith, Sorian, Solari, cracked, and corrupted. May not add any mods to the crystals. Attachments are up for discussion.

If not choosing a lightsaber, may choose one or two weaposn with a value equal or less than 9000 credits. Nothing restricted unless allowed, and nothing with Auto-fire. While any weapon is fine, please keep in mind the genre, as noted, and choose accordingly.

Aside from a lightsaber or weapons, may choose one piece of armor with a value of 2000 credits or less, as long as it is unrestricted (and within the logical confines of the genre). May also select one piece of equipment with the same restrictions as above.

Characters start with 500 + 1d100 credits, so don't bother taking the extra credit bonus. You may spend these credits on simple supplies, like stimpacks and such.

Very intriguing, I do enjoy those films mentioned and the premise. Put me on the standby list, if you're short on players I'll join (I won't play the captain I promise!) With many pc ideas already in my head I would be comfortable with any career, although Mystic is lowest on my list since I don't think I could do it justice.

So I got a few ideas.

Seer/Gunslinger/Gambler not quite 7 samurai, more magnificent 7. However he's the classic dishonored samurai drowning himself until given a quest to redeem himself. He has migraines and breaks from reality, however they are really force visions manifesting themselves. He has little control over it and must drink to see the future. (I was  thinking a variation on the findsmen tradition rules in DoH which require "meditation" to use foresee and... I think its seek?).

Shistivan/whiphid wilderness guy, probably executioner/trailblazer, discharged soldier (samurai with out a home trope).

Besalisk swordsman. Stoic good guy. Eventually want to get a double lightsaber. I think the build is shein expert ataru striker and martial artist.

I have a "samurai" character I made for a previous game I never actually joined. The concept was a strong willed Kyuzo Commando who threw knives. I could easily rebuild him as an Armourer, Ataru or Sentry.

I'll also say that I plan to keep the action to a single planet, so space combat will be unused, and vehicle combat will likely be unused or kept very minimal.

I might be interested. Like Magnus Arcanus I've never done a pbp before but I've read tons of them. Is it possible to get a little bit more on the premise side so I can better create a character? I don't know too much about jidai geki/wuxia-style. A little bit about the overall idea but not too much. Not to be to nosy at the beginning but, is the game set in the Galactic Civil War?

The characters have been recruited as bodyguards to escort their client while being dogged by enemies who wish to capture the client. The setting is during the GCW, but the action is confined to a single planet, so the war itself won't impact the story much.
