Porkchop Express 387 Posted May 31, 2017 I have been thinking about recording my games and putting them online, as I find there isn't enough X-Wing content currently on Youtube. Plus we tend to play with less popular ships, so it would give people a chance to see terrible lists played by terrible players in action. I have been looking at the Canon RF 806 (as I have a Canon DSLR), but I don't think it can do wide angled shots, whereas the next model up, the R88 can (but is 50% more expensive). Can anyone advise if either of them would do a good job of recording games from above (I have a tripod for my DSLR). If not, are there any video cameras people would recommend? Also, what do people use to edit the videos, and add the ship info onto the videos?
Tekwych 270 Posted June 1, 2017 (edited) I can't help but the guys at Team Covenant could. They just did a talk about some of the equipment they use to record and I'm sure they would respond to an email or on the boards. Tekwych 270 Posted June 1, 2017 It was part of The Covenant Cast. I think episode 6, “How Do You Prepare for an Event?” but I can’t be sure 1 Porkchop Express reacted to this
heychadwick 11,357 Posted June 2, 2017 I went with the Yi Action camera for a cheap alternative to the GoPro. It was only $99 and I think does a well enough job. It does NOT have wide angle lenses, though. If you look up some of the Shuttle Tydirium channel battle reports (there aren't a lot so far), you can see the results. I did a bunch of research and the Yi is the Chinese fancy one. The main things it doesn't have when compared to a GoPro is: No screen on the back, but you can use a phone app to see what it sees. Not water proof - not an issue for us, but mentioned often for GoPro'ers. No wide screen. Other than that, it's a good little camera for a good price.
