Dameon13 63 Posted May 23, 2017 I'm still new to the game (only been in it about a month as of this post) and building my collection. There's some local tournaments coming up very soon and I don't think my collection of Imperial ships will be where I want it to be, but I can make a 400 pt fleet with the Rebel ships I have. Being still new to the game I'm not expecting to achieve great things in the competitive environment yet but, I am hoping for not-last-place. So, here goes: Commander: General Madine (30pts) [Flagship] MC80 Battle Cruiser (143pts) Mon Karren Raymus Antllies Gunnery Team Leading Shots Spinal Armament Dual Turbolaser Turrets Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (69pts) Yavaris Toryn Farr Nebulon-B Support Frigate (58pts) Salvation CR90 Corvette B (47pts) Overload Pulse Squadrons (48pts) Wedge Antilles "Dutch" Vander X-Wing Squadron Total= 395pts
RocketPropelledGiraffe 95 Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Definitely a fun list. Which objectives will you take? While I generally like the Dutch/Wedge combo, I am not sure it will serve you well as a token squadron force. Granted they hit hard, and even more so with Yavaris. Is Yavaris worth it for just two squadrons? They won't win the squadron fight by themselves and will die quickly to a dedicated squadron fleet. Just one point more buys you Tycho and three AWings... Also: if you have Madine AND Raymus, definitely get Engine Techs for your Cruiser. Speed 4 MC80s are scary. durandal343 418 Posted May 23, 2017 Is Raymus in this build just to get more nav commands? With Madine the LMC80 is pretty flexible and Raymus is pretty expensive. I would also say maybe not Yavaris on the Neb B unless you retool to have a few more squads. An mc30 torpedo frigate would be great in this fleet I think but that does you no good if you don't own one. I think with just one cr90 you might want the TRC version.. but then again if you don't have the mc30 you probably don't have TRC so ignore that advice. One idea is sacrifice the vette and get some bombers, put Raymus on Yavaris for three squad activations, and try bombing. Rebel bomber double taps can bring down a lot of ships. Dameon13 63 Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Toryn Farr's ability works on ships too, which will help in the CR-90 get the Overload Pulse critical off. The fighter ball is defensive. I see the Raymus/ Yavaris/ bomber idea but, that's not what I was going for with this. Tycho and the A-wings sounds interesting... The points are there so I could run Shara Rey instead of Tycho. Picking up an MC30 isn't out of the question and I'll likely end up with one eventually anyways, but I don't think it fits with what I am trying to do (close range broadside vs long range frontal) and also its higher points means it is not a direct swap-out. I felt that with Raymus on the Mon Karren being able to bank command tokens that would makes it less dependent on having to set the Command Dials to Nav as often, allowing me greater flexibility with the dials. In theory I'd always either have a Nav token or Nav dial. I didn't want engine techs on the Mon Karren as I don't want her running off away from her escorts and also I'm worried I would just create some traffic control problems for myself. Still undecided on Objectives. I haven't even gotten to play all of them yet (I should probably just play some smaller solo games to hammer through them). I want to play this fleet a few times anyways, so I'll get to practice before committing to objectives for the tournament version. This is true, but it's still finicky and you'll need to do some serious setup/fancy flying to get it to work. Yavaris will have to be right up in by the vette since Toryn Farr only has a range of 3. You're already running Mon Karren which limits tokens to begin with. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.. I've tried the overload pulse/whatever combo before and just haven't been able to make it work very well. I'm also not the best pilot in the world so much of that may be due to my skills but for it's price I've just usually said no thanks.

You could use a defense liaison or support officer for fewer points also on the Mon Karren to give you the same (or better) flexibility as Raymus. Raymus would give you a concentrate fire dial and token at the same time.. or make extra engineering for repairs, but all that is contingent on having those dials cued up instead of nav commands. You can only bank one nav token at a time so you'll be wanting to have nav commands in there somewhere anyway.
