Flotillas Useless Now!

Does this make the Warlord/Sensor Teams/Quad Turbolaser Cannons/SW-7 combo a good bet again?

Is that also good at flotilla killing at range with the new upgrade?

2 guaranteed accuracy from the reds. 3 guaranteed damage from the blues.

Thinking about that super Vic2 as part of a fleet that can throw buckets of ties to strip the defence tokens off a couple of target ship..... yavaris and company without its defence tokens are going to be "sad face" if they get hit by a full renforced Vic2 front arc.

No. Sensor being an exhaust and spend a die still forever makes it bad.

Warlord/Quad works well with Jonus, you now just add the disposable capacitors and Gunnery Teams.

And you bring leading shots, no question, the reds will come up blank. Don't give me the stats, they will come up blank on that shot you need it to hit and sw7 does nothing for reds.

It may be pricey but I don't think it's bad. If you roll even a single hit on the 3 red dice then you auto-kill a flotilla (all blues register as hits, 2 reds become 2 accuracies).

With a CF order adding an additional blue, you auto-kill a flotilla even with a blank on every red die. That's pretty cool.

How are flotillas useless if I take 13 Combat GR-75s with DC and Rieekan, leaving me a 19 point bid?

Git gud scrub. Flotillas are OP now. Jeez, it's like no one understands meta.

Most Wanted (2 blue dice!!!), Contested Outpost (good luck ramming all my flotillas and getting into range), Solar Corona (hope you have H9s bud).

 

It's the best list according to the forums. It has flotillas, 13 activations, Rieekan, and I guess DC puts it over the top.

Aside from my blatant trolling comments, I think DC is the clear winner upgrade in the Quasar pack. Sure, killing a flotilla with a Vic II shot is not the best, but I'll take it. Add GT and you can take 2 shots. 

I'm really excited for it but I don't think it will #MakeVicsGreatAgain. I though JJ and Tua were going to do that anyway...and it really hasn't.

You're only taking a blank flotilla? Think of what you can DO, man! With Leia, the Combat GR (24 base)+slicer tools (7) to wreck opposing ships days PLUS DCaps (3), and if you're taking Opening Salvo Leia, you GOTTA add in an intel officer (7) for 43 points.  Cheaper than a CR90 and hits like a million times harder.  I expect a fleet of 7 of those, with Leia's ship having the Bright Hope title, along with 6 Z95s, a YT-1300 friend for Escort, and Lieutenant Blount to be the next OP list.  Nothing can beat this list, nothing.

Aw man, thanks @Undeadguy for making me realize I could run 7 of these flotillas super well and just start wiping out opposing ships right away.  Who cares about crazy ol quasars now anyways?

I'll just do TWO of them every turn.  =)  Hell. I think it takes what... 4 squadrons activations to kill a flot?   50 free points each turn.

Bwingattack2 - Scatter burned

Bwingattack3 - hit + hit -> no shield, 1/3 hull damage. 

Bwingattack4 - hit hit -> dead flot.  

Bwingattack5 Bwingattack6 in Yavaris get to work on the next flotilla.

One extra turn of shooting in a game where 1-2 turns of shooting often determines the difference between winners and losers.  Especially when that ship is chucking a critical combo shot from beyond the normal engagement range.

Actually, if you have Toryn n 2 BCC, you're better off going for a hit/crit and Acc since you're at close range. 1 Yavaris B-Wing will kill a flotilla that way.

I also thing 13 attack flotillas will be too much for Rieekan aces. That's a lot of blue AA coming in. I just played a game where I should have lost to bombers but I killed 6 of the 8 with 5 rounds of AA and 2 rounds of engagement with my fighters.

Of course not.  I implied that there being more flotilla nerfing cards available to the opponent would make flotillas worth 18-28 points, instead of their status now as a force multiplier worth more than their actual points value. Their usefulness, however, will remain, but they will be more easy to counter. Apologies if my meaning was not clear.

Nah, the start of it was just me going completely the other side of my initial post to make a dumb joke about running 7 of the stupid things. I own 3, I'm REEEEEALLY not wanting to buy a 4th in any way.  I do think flotillas have a soft nerf now, and I'm not really sure what if any rules changes need to be made to them in order to "lessen their impact."  We'll see what shakes out from Wave 6, though!

Yeah. but i get crucified for any sort of math that's not slightly obvious.  I think that situation honestly depends a little on luck, as youre fishing for both ACC and Hit/Crit with 3 rerolls.  
I try and offer that my view is more middle of the road, in that I give averages.  So, in this case, I just assume the worst scenarios.
