New map + Alliance Smuggler etc

On the jabba map with the crates, it states that you lose 2 movement points for each crate that you are carrying. Simple enough.

When an Alliance Smuggler interacts with one to pick it up, the Elite version gains 3 movement points. Is the figure now able to move all 3 or just the 1 or does the crate only count for movement through an action? Because that would mean that Gideon would not be able to use Tactical Manoeuvre on a figure carrying a crate, as Gideon only provides 2 movement points. not as simple.

Note that Alliance Smuggler does not gain movement points, he moves X spaces.

Also, losing the 2mp when you retrieve a crate is an instant effect. It does not trigger when you receive movement points, it triggers when a crate is retrieved. The figure's speed is also reduced, so performing a move gives less movement points.

Misread the AS card. it says 3 squares. so avoids the issue. my mistake.

Would you be able to use Gideon on it? Im guessing a 'no' here.

Gideon gives movement points, so why would it not work? As far as I remember the wording, neither of the mission rules trigger when a figure gains movement points.
