I'm surprised this hasn't been a problem in their past.  I proofread my emails before I send them out, so I'd double check before I sent this stuff out to the world.  Maybe someone just made a mistake and posted the wrong version.

I`m sure it has since they corrected so quickly....

That's true. Notice I was not saying holdings are bad cards and won't be played, just that I wasn't sure hat some we saw are worth it.

Thinking about it a little more, at least for the Lion one and the Phoenix one, I'm changing my mind.

That's why I said I'll need to test it to understand their usefullness. I'm not really good at theorycrafting.

On the flip side, I still think you can probably only afford one or 2 personalities a turn at most.  So having a province taken up by one holding might not be that bad.  Having 2 provinces taken up might be a problem.  Crab holding decks may have a problem unless there is some way to mitigate this.

Depends heavily on character and conflict deck costs along with holding abilities and number of conflict deck characters.

Crabs do get Rebuild, which looks like it replaces a dynasty card with one from your discard. Crab holding decks probably wouldn't need to have a bunch of holdings in play at a time, they would just get cards that let them tutor for the one they need right now.

Well, the holdings themselves sorta mitigate this. They are essentially a free person there that can't be messed with, as they add to the Prov Strength, and have actions. And that just means more Fate for Conflict cards. I think it will work out.

But the shrine was also an exception, not to mention how good free honor could be every turn. In the right deck, of course. I would also question the card layout of these holdings too. It does seem odd they would be lay out like a province despite potentially 'blocking' other cards. It would of have far more sense to make them similar looking to personalities.

If they do block future cards, most just seem pretty meh atm.

Yeah, this would essentially mean that Crab tries to turtle up and probably has some related ways to win.
Which kinda makes sense thematically.

Have we seen anyone with more then 3 in either stat yet?  If not, 2 extra province strength does sound quite nice, provided the ability is decent.

Brash Samurai goes to 4/3 when honored and can honor itself when defending solo.

i hope this is the case otherwise holdings will be somewhat difficult to utilize for more than one turn. if my production was off it is like losing a province... not good for the honor-running phoenix.

I'm guessing that holdings can be discarded at the end of turn/by the mulligan. A useless holding would not need to stay.

Hm... if they really do block the province I can't say I like it... We will have to see the full rules/interactions of Holdings first, and also how many characters reside in the Conflict deck but for now color me dissatisfied... ><

Important to note that the Dynasty deck only holds Characters and Holdings while the Conflict deck has attachments, events, and characters. So unless you plan to drop characters from each Province every turn, having one eaten up by a Holding might not be that bad depending on the benefit.

I wasn't a fan initially either, but I'm coming around to the concept.

Holdings also seem to manipulate province cards. Including turning them face up, this could allow quicker cycling and deck manipulation but at the cost of a province flip? Also seem to add province strength and by the current numbers +1/+2 seems quite alot....

Let's just keep in mind that you can't judge any of the rules without the context of how they fit in the entire rules text.

Chances are that something seems wonky now it will make sense when taken with the whole rule set in mind.

It is my right to judge whoever and whatever I want whenever I want!  You aren't my supervisor!

Depends on what the province strength is.  Looked like they ranged from 2 to 5?

Don't need + for base scores.

Decks that run costly personalities and conflict cards will probably not mind holdings blocking a province from new personalities, because they likely won't be able afford to utilize all four provinces every turn anyways. Are holdings completely free? If so, you're essentially trading some versatility (fewer options for personalities) for an otherwise free effect.

Characters seem to have a force of avg 2 highest 4 (I think) thus far shown, needing  a decent number to threaten a 5/6 force province... and its not like the old days where you end up with 40 force on the 6 force province cause personalities get removed now. You can also only take one province a turn as far as I`ve seen.... I just think people are looking at the old CCG game interactions and thinking meh!

I agree on the general 0-1 per turn thing.  Though more blitzy decks might get 2 if they are lucky.  Though the stronghold will be extra fun.  Another thing to keep in mind is you bow as defender as well.  So you can't generally attack with the guys you just defended with.

I'm not sure I'm crazy about the "Do this thing HYPHEN then do this thing" format on some of these cards.  Unless they're using it to emphasize you MUST do the thing before the hyphen in order to do the thing after.  But it still looks weird to me.

So now it's imperative that you can (hopefully freely) discard any number of face-up cards in your provinces during some phase ("End" Phase?) of the round...
