Quick and Easy Daqans

Recommended Posts

Great job, very effective. If I can allow myself a small constructive critic, I would say that your golem would benefit from having some of the metal parts in bronze or gold tones, because stone grey and steel are very similar in terms of colors, and the figure could have more contrast. But frankly, good work!

Good work.   The soft blues with the simple highlight look very nice.

If it's not too late, a quick drybrush of a lighter brown on the base texture would really make it pop.

These look great! Daqan just seem to be meant to be blue, and you have added a nice touch with the silver. Just curious: how long did it take you to paint these? (Since you said it was quick and easy)

Went about half a day and finished it up the next.  Probably a full day of work for the whole batch.

Here's the first step, Grabbed some GW Macragge Blue and used some Mournfang Brown I had lying around and utilized the super high tech method of a plastic bag to block off areas I didn't want to get a color on.  GW spray paints are expensive, but they're also color matched to their normal paints that have built in natural highlight colors in the range, so it's easier to patch mistakes and if your don't feel like mixing highlights will go a lot faster.

And this is what it looked like after all the blue highlighting.

Did an oil wash to help add some definition and gradient to areas and broke out a GW texture paint for the bases because it's faster than basing and painting the basing material.  Lots of little time savers add up, moreso over larger projects, but you'll still see a fair bit of impact for something like this.
