But what the heck. You're accomplishing nothing here. If anything, going after a long-dead popular figure you're doing more harm than good. Just how racist Lovecraft was, why he was how he was, and how justifiable it might have been in his day may be interesting academic questions, but you're not actually doing anything at all to fight modern racism. Picking on a popular author, where the natural inclination will be to excuse it, doesn't do anything to move the needle on modern racism. Quite the opposite, actually. Put another way, making your points intelligently, in the right forums and with carefully chosen topics will be far more effective than a rabid turn-it-up-to-11 approach.
