Painting the Rune Golem

Recommended Posts

The Rune Golem seems like it is an awesome miniature for introducing people to painting. It doesn't have a bunch of cramped little spaces or tiny details that need to be picked out.

I've never done much beyond some minor touch ups on X-Wing ships but painting the Rune Golem has inspired me to try to actually paint my Runewars stuff.  I just wish that there were a few  more models like the Rune Golem in the box. I was impressed with how mine came out and I consider myself a non-painter.

Very nice job on making the rocky texture, it actually looks like realistic rocks (as in, its not super clean and sharp looking like most people paint golems). My only poke about it is the yellow runes look flat to me (could be the camera)

Yeah, they are not exactly how I would have liked them to turn out. Some of what you see is because of the flash, but still they could be better.... just means I need to get more to paint.

Advice from painter here: try aplying thinned white paint into all those orange cracks and then reapply thinned orange. And apply lighter silver on all metal areas and blue on cloth area just leaving darker colour in the receses. This should make it look more like glowing for orange and more 3D on the rest. Still if this is one of your first minis: im impressed. Unfortunately i dont have my set yet but when i'll buy mine i will post here all minis that i will paint :)
