I only advocate the N-1 as a Rebel ship in the Rebellion era. Let the Clone Wars out of this game, please.

Too late.

The ARC and Scurrg are Clone Wars ships.

They won't stop coming!!! The sky if falling!!!

I think people (including me) are mostly just opposed to full on era mixing.  Right now we do have the ARC, the Y-wing, the Headhunter and the upcoming Scurrg (and technically the YT-1300 if you pay close attention to episode 3) as clone wars era ships.  But they are sold as refurbished and used by galactic civil war era pilots.  I think it would be a mistake to just start shoe horning characters from the clone wars (who didn't survive to justify their inclusion in the GCW era) into this game.

However, I would not be opposed to a separate clone wars era dog fighting game with streamlined mechanics and rules.  A veritable X-wing 2.0 if you will.  If they made it a similar but different experience from X-wing I think they could sell it like hot cakes.

If we are bringing out and dusting off the N1, bring out the Belbullab-22 starfighter for Scum. Gen Grievous as a pilot and the Souless One title.

(On a frivolous note) But still...Mandalorians...and Maul!

(On a more serious note) While some Clone Wars era pilots and ships have come out, it is still framed in the light of what is flown in the OT era and beyond. Ships like the ARC have all OT era pilots, and pilots like Ventress and Latts are pulled into ships that have a presence in OT era. The suggested N1 expansion follows the same logic as the ARC. If there is one or two pilots for the Belbullab beyond the Clone Wars era, it might see an expansion. Otherwise, FFG's track record isn't suggesting they'll go into the Clone Wars for it.

The Gauntlet, on the other hand, has more recent exposure in Rebels, and also has a Clone Wars pedigree. Even if we were to limit it to pilots who are around for OT era, we still have Maul and Gar Saxon for sure. Tristan Wren could be pressed ganged into being a pilot, and there are rumors Bo-Katan from Clone Wars is gonna be in Season 4 of Rebels, so she could fit too. (There is another Wren who could be made a pilot, but saying her name as a pilot for yet another ship might cause an uproar).

I understand the "oh, another large base for Scum" sentiment, but I feel it works. These are predominantly pirates, bounty hunters, and smaller factions. It kinda makes sense that they would have less Squadrons of starfighters and more big ships they haul loot, use as stand in flag ships, or keep bounties in.

I think the Gauntlet would require some new kind of plastic base arrangement to work.  it's even bigger than the Ghost

That is the biggest obstacle when it come to bringing the Gauntlet to X-Wing. Some even argue it is big enough to be an epic ship, though due to its behavior in the shows, I think size is the only thing that makes it possibly epic.

I honestly think it would be the better part of valor on FFG's part to just scale it differently than other ships to make it smaller than the Ghost. It saves on special pegs, and some wing span problems.

We've already got Ventress, Latts Razzi, and Moralo Eval, none of these having appeared in the GCW (Ventress being dead at the time). That said, their ship classes have, even they themselves have not.

It's not much larger than the Ghost, and certainly lighter. If the large base can sustain the Gohst, the Gauntlet will do fine.

I'd be game for an N-1. I'd love to see it fill a similar design space that the TIE Advanced Prototype fills for the Empire, or even the TIE/FO, a cheap ship with a fairly decent dial. I might even go as far as to give it a dial similar to the shadow caster where the 3+ maneuvers are green so if you want to go slow shove an R2 astromech on that to really open the dial up.

I know people tend to dislike the idea of the ship by association, but while the movie was bad I can at least appreciate the design of the ships. The biggest cricisism is that "it doesn't fit the Star Wars aesthetic." well my response to that is this: What exactly is the Star Wars aesthetic, and in a galaxy as large as Star Wars surely if there were a people who were to design spaceships with form over function, it would the Naboo people. Just because it's not like anything we saw previously in Star Wars, doesn't mean it isn't Star Wars. Why does Star Wars always have to be used and rusted ships that look like they are barely held together?

No, in my opinion, the N-1 fits perfectly the idea of what the ship was designed for: Parades. It was designed to look nice when landing along the Queen's royal starship and wasn't equipped to deal with warfare. Skirmishes and escort duty yeah, but not all out war. If that were the case we would have seen them more in the Clone Wars.

Eh, none of the in-game ARC pilots have actually touched that ship. FFG can do something similar for other prequel or prequel-era machines, like Belbullab or Porax-38.

Cad Bane had a Porax, take him, add a copule of his associates from TCW episodes like Holocron Heist or the Rako Hardeen arc, fill remaining slots with generics, add a bunch of upgrades, and voila, you have a P38 Expansion Pack.

Yeah I think Scum is the only faction that can get away with pushing it on the timeline.  Scum back in the Clone Wars is still Scum in the GCW.  They don't have a military organization or codified ideology.

When it starts to be Clone Wars era republic characters shoe horned into the rebellion (Ahsoka Tano, Rex or future Obi-wan crew being the obvious exceptions) it would start to become obnoxious without a lore justification.  Same goes for CIS or Republic characters being shoved into the Imperial faction without any real justification.

That's fair. I was under the impression that the use of ARCs by the Rebel Allience was from an actual story, but a quick check disproved that. So there is a chance, but that example does make a P38 expansion less likely to contain Cad Bane and his associates, if they follow the presidence of the ARC. Also, there are references to ARCs being used in the OT era (admittedly on the imperial side in canon entries, though Legends speaks of both sides using them). I'm not seeing anything for the P38 (I've also seen Cad Bane's ship referred to as a Rogue-Class starfighter rather than a P38 on Wookieepedia). There is some vague talk of the Belbullab used in the OT from Legends, but nothing in Canon.

So, possible, but unless it provides a new element like the ARC did with its auxiliary arc, there are more ships with a firmer position in the OT Era (like the N1 and the Gauntlet) that will probably been seen first.

I'd like to point to the success of Star Wars media that is exclusively Original Trilogy with only passing nods to the prequels at most. The most recent Star Wars Battlefront, Rogue One, TFA, this game.

For what, a decade(?) everything Star Wars was prequel based or featured the prequels prominently.

I think there is a reason for that. Most people don't like the prequels. They feel that they taint Star Wars (because they do). I don't think it's a very wise decision to start putting more and more prequel ships into the game.

There used to be this game called Heroscape that a friend of mine used to play. The game's theme was that it took place in Valhalla, with warriors of all different time periods and places being summoned there. You would have Orcs riding on dinosaurs allied with robots against snake people and Romans and Red Coats and Elves. The game was very cool and I wish I would have had a chance to play it more than the handful of times that I did.

And when Wizards of the Coast got their hands on it, they canceled the planned second Marvel expansion everyone wanted, and they got rid of all the unique charm of the game by rebasing D&D minis and only releasing those. No more Native Americans, Samurai, World War 2 American Airborne soldiers, robots, secret agents, lava people, Yeti guys, blue Orcs riding on T-Rex's, etc. Nope.

Just generic fantasy crap. And the game died 13 waves in, the last 3 of which WotC had their grimy hands on.

This is how I view prequel ships. I don't want them in this game, most other people don't, and the recent Star Wars renaissance is proof of that. Don't do to X-Wing what happened to Heroscape.

Once the majority of releases for this game are prequel based, this game will die. I'm telling you.

Well the thing is I can currently fly Bigg's and Poe together even though historically Poe was probably in diapers when Bigg's bit the spacedust so the arguments of era mixing or not playing pilot's together that don’t fit chronologically doesn’t "fly" with me (Pun intended).

I mean seriously, when FFG are forced to build an entire ship and upgrades for the game of a ship that is in the new movie for a matter of seconds, isn't shown flying and blows up, they really are scrapping the barrel for ideas on ships. I'm sure Disney had a say in it but there were other options.

There are some really cool looking designs from the prequels and CW, I'm particularly fond of the V19 Torrent, and for the game to remain fresh the need to put out new ships means that they cannot ignore the well of design space that those movies and TV shows offer forever.

This got me curious, so I looked it up. Poe wasn't born until 2 years after the Battle of Yavin. He wasn't even a twinkle in his parents' eyes when Biggs took one for the team.

I think it's only other appearance was in Galaxies. So there's a little evidence of it still in use, but no named pilots.

Which is a crying shame, because it's a lovely ship. I'd buy it. :)

Like we or not, the Prequel is a big part of the Star Wars canon.

No one (sane) is asking for this game to be flooded with Prequel ships, but FFG releases 2-3 waves/year and there are very few decent alternatives left for next releases, either in new canon or Legends.

I really don't like the style of the ships in the Prequels - always found them very non-Star Wars, but we need to consider the inclusion of 1 Prequel ship per wave, as long as it makes sense in the Rebellion Era.

The trend already started with the ARC, and FFG even put 4 pilots who never piloted the ship in there. I don't see how the N-1 Starfighter (which has Shara Bey and no one less than Princess Leia as recent canonical pilots) won't show up soon.

The difference with the N-1 is that it has been shown as used by the Rebels after Endor. Like Obanan said, both Shara and Leia have flown it. You could also argue that the N-1 design has been relatively unchanged outside but have major upgrades inside. And I'll admit, I get annoyed when people say that in an ENTIRE GALAXY there can't be ROYAL STARFIGHTERS that are kept shiny and showy. Come on! It makes perfect sense, even if it doesn't fit the main look of Star Wars. I'll even pull out Star Trek. The only real bind they have are the nacelles, and even then they find loopholes. Various species have such a wide range of vessels that you almost can't say Star Trek has a style. What's so wrong with some planets in Star Wars having a different design philosophy?

For all the "Star Wars ships must be gritty and used and look like they might fall apart at any moment" people, have you ever actually seen Star Wars?

If you decided to finally watch those movies, note how the imperial ships, fighters and interiors look.

Even as you're advocating for prequel ships in the game, you're talking about how you don't like the ships because they don't look like they're from Star Wars.

If some of the people advocating for the inclusion of prequel ships are lukewarm for them, what does that say about how everyone else would view them?

I can hear it now. "FFG gives Imperials quad TLT with 3 green dice and now prequel ships? **** this game, I'm playing guild ball."

From Wave 6 onwards I have wanted a grand total of 2 ships.

You can still play this game without buying 3 of everything in every new wave.
