Question about Bones of Woe relic

Recommended Posts

Hello, i have question about using Bones of Woe relic. So when i start to use it's ability, if my lieutenant enters to the game in the middle of quest, for example when portal is closed in Interlude 2? We played that overlord can use Bones of Woe ability when the lieutenant is put on the map, are we correct? Or overlord can use this relic regardless of lieutenant is on the map or not?

CRRG, entry Relics:

Quote

The overlord may assign a relic to be wielded by a lieutenant, if the corresponding Lieutenant card is present in the encounter (as noted in the setup section of the quest description), even if the lieutenant is not placed on the map during setup or will not be placed on the map at all .

If you assigned Bones of Woe to a lieutenant that is present in a quest, you may use it regardless if this lieutenant is on the map or not.

No, only lieutenants which are specifically mentioned in the setup section of an encounter can wield a relic that can then be used by the OL. If a lieutenant is only present in encounter 2 but not in encounter 1, the OL can assign a relic to this lieutenant during setup of encounter 2. He cannot use the relic during encounter 1. This is also true the other way around.

It is interesting to note that a lieutenant present in both encounters and thus able to wield a relic in encounter 1 cannot switch the relic in encounter 2. He has to keep the relic chosen during setup of encounter 1.
