Passing Ice condition when destroying ice

"Destruction of Ice

If a piece of ice is destroyed during an approach or encounter with that piece of ice, then the ice is immediately passed and the run continues after any currently open paid ability windows close."

However, the UFAQ (http://ancur.wikia.com/wiki/Intervention_UFAQ):

"Does Architects of Tomorrow trigger if the Runner trashes an encountered bioroid?

No. Architects of Tomorrow requires that the Runner passses a rezzed piece of ice, and ice that is not installed is neither rezzed nor unrezzed. Consequently, Architects of Tomorrow is still available to trigger later in the same turn."

These two conflict with each other. The official FAQ specifies that destroyed ice is passed. Why wouldn't conditions of AoT's ID ability or ice like Kakugo trigger if the destroyed ice on approach or encounter is 'immediately passed'?

The two aren't in conflict. Yes, you passed it, which absent that clarification would make resolution of cards like Awakening Center and Caprice Nisei very confusing. But, AoT adds an additional requirement: that you have passed a rezzed piece of ice. And a piece of ice that's in Archives isn't rezzed. (Kakugo can't trigger because its text won't be active once it's in Archives.) The act of destroying it is what ends the encounter and resolves as a "passed" condition, but the "rezzed" requirement isn't satisfied because the ice is already no longer rezzed.
