I would have thought putting your fingers in your ears would hold your glasses on better and help you see....

Maybe if you put your right digit in your left ear and your left digit in your right ear you have trouble.

It's totally not. But if you think putting fingers in your ears will help you not see, then we've identified the first reason why you're not enjoying Destiny.

My question is why are they still here if they dislike it so.

Where have you heard this? There will be prereleases in four major cities in Denmark both days. (This means basically every hobby store will have one). I feel like thats adequate if not pretty great.

It feels like lately FFG can't do anything right in the eyes of these forums, just quit the game already if you're going to question and slander every single bit of news about it.

Soooo....Denmark gets 4 kits for the 4 hobby stores they have and everything is rosey?

I actually have no idea how many hobby stores Denmark has, nor do I care how much product Denmark gets.  Because that market is extremely small and not FFG's primary market.  Destiny will live or die on how well the US market does.

As to that, there are 3 game stores in my area, with at least twice that many more within an hour or two of driving.  I've heard of NONE of them so far confirming that they are getting kits.  To put that in perspective, Denmark has a 2013 population of about 5.5 million.  I live in the Chicago area, which has a 2016 population of about 9.5 million people.

So, Denmark apparently can confirm plenty of prerelease events, while the Chicago area so far has confirmed zero events.

If you can't see the problem with that, there's no amount of facts or evidence that are going to change your mind.

I think no one is confirming anything because the distributors don't know how many kits they are getting, which means stores don't know if they are going to be able to get one yet.

Everyone is all hyped up and angry and we know nothing. Everything is hearsay and rumors at this point.

All signs are pointing to this being a pretty limited event, but we don't know how limited. Ideally every store that wants to run one (or 2) could but it doesn't look like it's going to work out that way, unfortunately.

The upside to all this is that the preview event for Awakenings happened at the FFG game center, so at least they are expanding. We can only hope that going forward things continue to improve and expand.

Even though a lot of people are angry, this is a step in the right direction.

But there were also preview events for Awakenings planned for LGS....and then cancelled during the days leading up to them for many, allowing only a small few stores to hold the events.

FFG knew what it's availability was in advance, but held on to that knowledge so many stores had to cancel their events on short notice.  I would not call this an improvement until we've seen what kind of coverage they have for the SoR event.

I'm talking about this event, which was a week before Launch Parties:

I don't recall reading about preview events planned for anything other that one.

Does it matter what they were called?  We're seeing the same pattern between the Awakenings event and those announced for SoR.

I think it does.

This isn't the launch of the set, it's a preview.

And the Awakenings preview was only in one place, the SoR preview will be in more places, not as many as people would like, but more.

Now when the set launches, if they do launch parties again for SoR and have the same problems, outrage.

Like I said, it's a shame that more places might not be able to get a kit, it sucks, but at least some places are going to get them.

I'm sure everyone will be completely convinced that the former "Launch Parties" that provided alt art cards and 3 boxes of unreleased boosters is completely different from the "Prerelease Event" that provides alt art cards and 3 boxes of unreleased boosters.

Totally different things.

My point a few posts ago was that we don't know everything that's going on leading up to the release.

Everyone is comparing these events to the Launch Parties, so in that regard they are worse because there will be less of them, but I think they are different and who knows maybe they have 2 things planned? This Preview event and a larger scale Launch Party event closer to release.

If you compare this to the first preview event, then it's better. If you're comparing it to the launch parties (which they may still have yet for SoR) then yeah it's worse.

All I'm saying is that it's still early and we don't know everything that's planned.

We don't know what's going on. By a lot post sense the games release, a lot of people's crystal balls are working overtime. I know I'm excited to see what happens. I didn't get my introductory crystal ball in the mail so I'll just have to wait and see.

So I'm just throwing this out there. for those that are upset about a store in your area "not" getting one. (confirmed or don't know yet), is it mainly because you want this to be similar to an MTG event where at least 3 stores in a 20mi radius have the pre-release event? I'm not trying to sound stupid here, but i want ANA to know that they can't have it so limited, because you have to give all the players in every area a chance to play at a place they enjoy. NOT have it spread out so sporadically. Granted who knows how they are choosing, but at least it should be available for a store to ask for 1 if they want it way ahead of time. not announce it to everyone and stores a month before the product releases.

I remember a time when I had to drive (or be driven) out to Los Angeles or San Diego to attend a Magic pre-release. The thing is, I don't live in the '90s anymore, and I expect the companies I patronize to know better at this point. The data is out there, all FFG has to do is open their eyes. The fact that they seem unwilling to do so - stubbornly, in fact - is the very reason why I called them negligent.

It would be one thing if this were an event tournament style where people play to win. Sure, I get that. Make it a contest of hard fought over alt cards to generate buzz and competition. But this is an event where according to the rules, if you show up with an extra deck, you get a promo card. That tells me that despite play ability or overall interest in the game, if you show up with cards, you get a promo.

That should be a much wider release to catch all the interested parties. It shouldn't be something where I have to travel miles in hopes that I'm the first person out of potential dozens to do four ranged damage or have six resources. At the very least, let me compete against those potential dozens rather than hope to be on the guest list or have the inside scoop.

The event is trying to create a fun atmosphere where winning or even playing is not key, yet it's structured in a way that is so limited, not everyone will have a fair chance if at all. That's not fun.

The 20th century is over. It is no longer all about us. It's a global market and this French owned company will do global distribution. We are lucky they employ the few Americans they do. If these releases are as limited as people are reporting, I feel it is a big mistake but yeah, they probably don't care.

Yep, the data is out there, most CCGs FAIL. Those dice probably make their margins very thin. So thin in fact that if they don't sell out, they go bust. They aren't going to call one of their products selling out negligent, they would call that a huge success.

Seriously the game has been out 3 months not a couple decades. Hasbro is a well oiled machine with Magic and even they struggle at times.

A good rule of thumb with CCGs is go big or stay home. You're right, most fail, and failing to provide product while demand is highest isn't exactly going to buck that trend. Not sure if you're trying to defend poor marketing decisions or just making general observations.

Observations is what provides data for decisions. The words "sold out" and "poor decisions" don't actually go together all that much. While we are complaining about the game being sold out, they are celebrating their success.
